This was a very disappointing tour. Kelwin had evidently double-booked and sent someone in his place. The tour consisted of 2.5 hours in the port off Iquitos, looking at container ships, military boats and the bridge in the name of waiting to see a dolphin. I let the guide know we really wanted to see the beauty of rivers, so we went up to a few ecolodges then turned around because "there is not enough time." They also do not provide the advertised lunch. If you are visiting the Amazon for its beauty, this is definitely not the way to see it.
We visited several stops by boat along the Amazon River including a couple of animal sanctuaries where you can get up close and personal with native wildlife, and local village, and the Giant Tree.
We went for a boat trip on the Amazon river, it was beautiful and we even saw pink dolphins! Our guide, Robinson, was very friendly and punctual, I recommend!
We like Kelwin. He is informative but not “in yer face” and he speaks really good English and answered all our questions. We asked Kelwin if he could take us on the Amazon river in a boat for 2 hours. We had no expectations of what we might see as nature is always unpredictable but we came across a pod of Amazonian dolphins! Kelwin and the skipper were more than happy to follow the dolohins for almost an hour! What a fantastic experience! The next day we asked if we could visit a local animal rescue centre in a mototaxi and Kelwin granted our wish even though he had always done the trip by boat before. We will definitely get in touch with Kelwin again whenever we visit Iquitos.
