Itinerary
Our lunchtime food tour invites guests on a culinary experience around Hanoi. It's a carefully curated food adventure, led by our team of professional food guides. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine, & the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour, so no-one is disappointed: ✘ Unsuitable for vegetarian diets sorry, as there would be 4-5 less tastings. ✖️ Unsuitable for severe allergies, halal and celiac diets, due to the risk of traces & cross-contamination. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!
We'll meet at the historic Old Quarter, navigating through street food vendors, decades-old eateries and family-owned recipes that have been passed down generations. We'll crunch on crispy handmade pillow cakes, translucent tapioca dumplings, and caramelized pork belly. We can't miss a Hanoian classic -Chả Cá Lã Vọng, a turmeric-spiked fish dish with dill at a century-old original joint, before a steamy hot bowl of pho at a Michelin-rated eatery. Next up, bánh cuon rice rolls are rolled expertly over the griddle, and later grilled bun cha pork patties are doused over stringy vermicelli noodles and fresh herbs, whilst young green rice flakes are bundled over banana leaves, washed down with dracontomelon juice. There's many more surprises amongst 15+ tastings over the course of 7-8 stops of our moveable feast.
Come hungry, cos we're taking you on a food adventure like no other, to the backstreets to discover the real street food of Hanoi and the food heroes deep inside the culinary underbelly of the North. We'll toast the iconic egg coffee with your seasoned foodie pro guide, an expert in delicious dishes, arming you with the local knowledge to continue eating street food across Vietnam. Pack loose trousers, we'll show you where the locals eat!

Tung made it a very fun, lively experience : lots of delicious local food! Had a great time.
Very nice friendly guide Tom has taken us to the best places in Hanoi
It was a very nice experience. A lot of new flavours and traditional dishes. Our guide Tung was very kind and generous, he explained a lot about traditions and places to visit.
We had an amazing experience on the culinary tour! Tung was an amazing guide and he was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this tour!
This is our third location of doing a chef tour. We have done two different ones in Bangkok and now onto our Day tour in Hanoi. We also have the Hanoi dusk tour booked later on. We find these tours a great way to learn the best of the best "local" food and history. This tour was with Stella and the meeting point was handy for us, just a short walk in the old quarter. Note the cafe where you meet is easy to find but what confused us is they say it has a red canopy, we could not see a red canopy, maybe if you stood far back, anyhow I will add a photo of the cafe and Stella. Stella is fairly new at this job but by no means a beginner. The 3.5 hours approx flew by but you can set your own pace. The tour was a great mix of food ranging from the well know to the unknown but nothing weird. For some maybe the eel cake might be but it was delicious, the both it was in was super tasty. if you really don't want to try something there is no pressure but I suggest you do. We got to try Cha Ca a very famous dish in Hanoi that we have been wanting to try for ages. We found out the four most famous foods of Hanoi are Banh mi, Pho, Bun Cha and Cha Ca and we tried them all. The tour felt like going out for the day with a friend, just this friend knows a lot more about Hanoi and food than us. It was really a two way tour with Stella also learning about us and how things are for us. The tour states 15+ tastings, they are not kidding! I would call them meals. I fast learnt from doing the other tours that it is ok just to taste rather than consume everything as you will never finish if you do that. The booking process is easy and communication very clear, really good value for your $ and a great way to get comfortable with a new city. After Hanoi we go to Koh Samui in Thailand for two weeks and have just booked the new chef tour there which I am excited to do as we have been going there for ages so it would be good to find some hidden places we don't know about.
Before the tour, Tung was in touch to provide clear instructions on what to expect and where to meet. Once we arrived to our starting point we provided with a bottle of water and began the tour. Tung provided rich information about the food we were tasting and the local history of the area. It was a fantastic tour with a very enthusiastic and friendly guide. I feel I've had a well rounded tour and trusted so much food. Would recommend. Thanks!
We had such a fun time with Tung—excellent knowledge and really passionate guide. The food was also phenomenal 🥰
We had a lunchtime tour with Dalia in Hanoi. She was the goat, super super friendly and had a great personality. Food was also super good, got a good sense of what north vietnamese cuisine is like. Great way to start your visit to the city.
Excellent food tour with Tung! He took us to many authentic places and was extremely kind.
Our experience with Tung was great! Delicious food in a variety of off the beaten path locations. Highly recommend this tour and Tung!
