09:00 or 14:00 Meet at Lac Thien restaurant. Walk through one of the ancient gates of Hue Citadel, highlights will be The Flag Tower, The Noon Gate Square, and The Holy Cannons – the guide will explain the history of the ancient capital in 1802 and the rise of the Gia Long Emporer.
Continue to Thai Hoa Palace (currently under renovation) – learn about the Vietnam War and the Tet Offensive of 1968 – the guide will explain the restoration project being undertaken by the Vietnamese government.
The highlight of this walking tour, visit The Mieu Temple – learning inspiring stories about the 13 rulers of the Nguyen Dynasty.
Admire the most important artwork inside The Hue Citadel, the Nine Dynastic Urns, created by Emperor Minh Mang in 1836, which is a symbol of the sovereignty of the dynasty.

Awesome walking tour of the historic and picturesque Imperial Citadel. Our guide, Hoàng, was excellent -- extremely knowledgable, friendly, and immaculate English. He deftly explained the history of the Nguyen dynasty and the Citadel and gave plenty of opportunities for us to explore and take pictures on our own. Highly recommend!

Getting kids to walk through historic sites can be a challenge, but our guide Trinh made our outing such a delight for the whole family with a relaxed and flexible pace and interesting and relatable stories. We had a great time.
