Really fun experience! Cecilia was fantastic. A great combination of good food and cultural information. Highly recommend!
Carrie was an excellent guide - she has great energy. She took us to places you’d never think to go on you own and try food you possibly wouldn’t order. We had a nice bunch of 4 travellers so it was great to meet people while travelling alone. Highly recommended.
This food tour stood out from every other we’ve done. Carrie took us into a rarely visited, deeply local area of Hong Kong Sham Shui Po— no tourist traps, just family-owned businesses that have been part of the neighbourhood for decades. What made it so special was how much ground it covered without feeling like a tour. Between food stops she’d point out a pawnshop, a knife sharpener, the walk-up buildings above us — small details that added up to a real picture of who lives here and how. Through the food, the streets and the occasional peek inside, we got a genuine glimpse into everyday Cantonese life. Carrie has been doing this for ten years and it shows. She brings the perfect mix of passion, knowledge and ease — nothing felt rushed or overloaded. Her warmth and connection to the place comes through in every stop. One of the most immersive and authentic experiences we’ve had travelling. Highly recommend.
Had an amazing time on the morning tour with Carrie—she was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. We tried some fantastic local spots and learned a lot along the way. One of us had a food allergy, and it was handled really well—we felt very confident throughout. Everything was well organised and easy from start to finish. Definitely recommend.
Carrie was a fantastic tour guide, and we learned a lot about the neighborhood and the food places in it. Got a "behind the scenes" look at several of the places, which was a nice perk compared to some other tours I did in HK. Would highly recommend!
This was a highlight of my trip to Hong Kong. Carrie was my guide and she was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, kind, and just a fabulous guide. The food was delicious and I appreciated the tour company's care in selection of restaurants that we visited. There were no chains and each stop had a story with it. I think my favorite stop was the Traditional Breakfast Shop with rice rolls, but there truly were NO misses. Thank you for enhancing my trip to HK. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys savoring the true local flavor of a city. Thanks Carrie!
I rarely leave reviews, but I found this tour through the guidance of Tripadvisor so I must reciprocate the good will. This tour may very well have been the highlight of a two-week trip. Carrie is the best guide you could ask for, immersing you in the culture of Hong Kong while making you feel very welcome. She is incredibly knowledgeable and does a great job of teaching about the area and the local customs. There was never a dull moment. We've been on many tours in different parts of the world and this one truly stood out as one of the best. If you're reading this and waffling about whether this is the right tour for you, this is your invitation to quit searching and just book it.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable time at the Sham Shui Po with Cary. I had a particular request for a vegetarian tour and Cary was excellent in making sure we had a wonderful tour. She was knowledgeable, helpful and shared personal insights which made the experience really come alive.

With a weekend in HK, the pressure was on to cram as much local culture and cuisine in as possible. In a world of AI and with an analytical personality, I spent the Friday evening overwhelmed by the multitude of choices. In a fit of panic at midnight, I desperately searched for a foodie tour that would deliver on my (admittedly) impossible expectations. I found a Reddit thread that recommended HK foodie tasting tours and took a chance. What serendipity! From the warm welcome when I was almost late (they recommend you arrive 15m before start time) Silvana’s deep expertise, patience and perfect balance between enough local treats and morsels of cultural insights - struck me as exceptional. Helpfully, the group also provides a brochure that describes all the stops and some phrases in Cantonese. We tried a number of local dishes in Sham Shui po, a working class neighbourhood humming with people going about their daily business. At every eatery we ate, the owners and hosts were welcoming and the food really granted my wish of experiencing the full range of HK Cuisine. I am a vegetarian and Silvana expertly and diligently filtered out any dishes with lard. Sometimes, food tours leave you overstuffed. While I will definitely be skipping lunch, this was the exact right amount of food. Silvana struck the perfect rhythm of delicious food AND allowing you to absorb the area. She shared its history (sprinkled with personal perspective) and fascinating titbits to help explore the textured layers of a community. At the end of the tour she posed what she framed as a difficult question- to choose a favourite. After I ranked my choices- she exclaimed: that’s all of them! And I think that summed up the craft of a foodie tour exquisitely delivered. I am so grateful for an experience which gave me a glimpse into a new and rich world and strongly recommend this tour.
Hi Khadeeja, Thank you for this incredible review. “Book it. Now. Zero regrets” might be our new favorite line! We’re so glad that your midnight research spiral led you to Sham Shui Po with us, and even happier that the tour delivered on those “impossible expectations.” Silvana has already read your review and was genuinely blown away by it. She puts so much care into finding the right balance between delicious tastings and the stories, history, and everyday life that give the neighborhood its texture. Thank you as well for mentioning the vegetarian accommodations. We may not be able to cater to every dietary need, but we always do our best to provide alternatives where possible, and Silvana is wonderful at making sure participants don’t miss out. We also love that you noticed the pacing. Full #hongkongbelly, with enough room to wander, observe, and take it all in. We’re truly grateful you took a chance on us, and we hope you’ll come back for another round of “that’s all of them!” next time you’re in Hong Kong. Sincerely,
