We went with a group of 12 June 2025. We were greeted with a shuttle bus and ferried to the first destination , the food markets. It was light rain and we were all provided with ponchos - thanks. The food market was incredible in it's variety , and our chef had a wonderful sense of humour as she showed us all the unusual produce , veges and herbs , that we don't normally get in Australia. After itemising what we would cook with later in the afternoon we made our way to the boat ride along the Hoai River. We were all seated in basket boats , and what fun it was. Our oarsman took us up the river and we reached a spot where they could demonstrated their dramatic skill of getting the boat to spin...we were not all subjected to this .... only those that wished to give it a try and hold on for their lives!! ... all to the tunes of Gangnam Style music. After this very proficient display we went fishing in the shallow magroves for crabs , they were too small so they were returned to their tree trunks ... but great fun. Next was the cook up , an open kitchen location near the river ,which went for a few hours . We cooked 3 courses , wonderful spring rolls , main papaya salad stir fry with chicken , and fish baked in small casserole pots. All in all it was a wonderful afternoon , highly recommended , so much food , lots of fun and learning .
