Itinerary
Mt. Field offers a variety of walks in one of Tasmania’s oldest National Parks. Most famous for Russell Falls & the Tall Trees track we explore the various walks in this diverse Park which is a short 1.5 hour drive from Hobart
Russell Falls is easily Tasmania’s most recognisable waterfall with its 3-tiered drop. It is an easy and enjoyable walk along a beautiful forest track among mixed forest and temperate rainforest species. This is Tassie’s most photographed waterfall, and we soak up the awesome view before continuing our walk. Just beyond Russell Falls we climb the stairs to Horseshoe Falls, a majestic waterfall snuggled in the forest, which some regard as even more impressive than Russell Falls!
A short 30 minute circuit trail takes us around the Tall Trees Track. High above us stand the giant Swamp Gums around 80 metres tall. This is a series of short, spectacular walks amongst the cool and quiet rainforest, eucalypts, streams, and local wildlife.
We continue along the Three Falls Circuit and enter the section known as the Tall Trees Track. High above us stand the giant Swamp Gums around 80 metres tall, the world's tallest flowering plant. From here, we have the option to continue the full circuit along the Three Falls Circuit, taking us onwards to Lady Barron Falls, or for the less active, we can return back to our start point.
Next up is Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where you’ll meet all kinds of native wildlife. Learn about Tasmania’s rare and precious fauna during an informative wildlife tour conducted by the expert staff at Bonorong.
To top off this very Tasmanian day we head to the summit of kunanyi /Mt. Wellington. Standing high above Hobart at 1271m on a clear day is nothing short of spectacular. The views from the top are expansive. This is a fantastic way to wrap up a day exploring many of Tassie’s most unique and noteworthy experiences, rainforests, waterfalls, wildlife, and fabulous scenery. We return to Hobart around 5.30pm.

Was a great day and our tour guide Patrick was fun and thorough. Highly recommend doing this tour. Lots of great views to see
Well planned highly enjoyable day out. Great guide / driver. Scenery glorious. Highly recommended!!!
This is a well organised tour. Our guide/driver Lukas was outstanding - helpful, polite, and full of excellent information which enabled us to understand so much about Tasmania's envirnment and history.
Beautiful scenery and a great guide - Hannah - who made the day fun. The walking is pretty easy, but plenty of steps if you choose the longer options. It’s great that they offer alternatives for different levels. The trip to the top of Mount Wellington was impressive. At this time of year (January), the beauty of the alpine plants beats the views - fantastic.
Thank you for your lovely review. We’re so pleased you enjoyed the Mt Field, Mt Wellington and Wildlife Day Tour and appreciated the flexible walking options. Hannah will be delighted to hear she made the day fun and enjoyable. Thanks again for travelling with us. - The Tours Tasmania Team
This is a must do tour and they cover key places. Our tour guide was Hanna who is very well travelled, great driver and an expert at guiding the group well. The walk/hike at Mount Field is must do. There was wooden manmade stairs which makes the stairs part easier. Do need some active level to get this going. Bonorong wildlife sanctuary is a MUST visit too. We got only 30 mins at Mount Wellington and reached back Hobart by 5pm. Wish we could get 1 hour at Mt Wellington and reach back Hobart by 5.30pm.
Thank you for such a detailed review. We’re so glad you enjoyed the Mt Field walk, Bonorong and Hanna’s guiding. We appreciate your feedback on time at Mount Wellington and will share this with our planning team as we continue refining the day. Thanks for joining us on this adventure. - The Tours Tasmania Team
Firstly, our tour guide — Clinton — was an absolute gem! So personable, so knowledgeable… his energy, stories and insights made the tour absolutely terrific. Secondly, the combination of activities made for a perfect day out. Waterfalls in the rain forest, tall trees, ice cream and fresh berries, the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary (also a fantastic learning experience) and finally driving to the top of Mt. Wellington for an amazing 360 degree view. What a great day!! Highly recommend this tour.
Thank you so much for this lovely review of our Mt. Field, Mt. Wellington & Wildlife Active Day Tour. We’re thrilled to hear Clinton made your day so special. His passion, stories and local knowledge really shine. From rainforest waterfalls to Bonorong and the summit views of Mt Wellington, it’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed it all. - The Tours Tasmania Team
It was very nice 🤩 the bush was just beautiful and it was a nice hiking trail where you had seen different waterfalls. Our tour guide Ben explained and explained a lot , which was very interesting. On the way to the Bush, we had also seen many Destinia. Always a recommendation

Can't believe so much can be packed into one day while not feeling rushed. You get to see so many amazing sights on this tour. Hiking, kangaroo feedings, and amazing views. So happy this was my first experience in Tasmania. Truly a special and perfect day to start my trip.
