It is a major historical landmark and is probably the most photographed structure in Malacca. The A Famosa is located just next to the Stadthuys building. This tiny gate which we call A Famosa or Porta de Santiago is the last remains of what used to be a mighty fortress.

The original structure built by Indian Muslim traders in 1748 was a wooden building and in 1872, it was rebuilt in brick. The mosque is one of the traditional mosques in Malacca, which still retains its original design. The architectural design of the mosque is a cross between Sumatran, Chinese, Hindu, and the Malacca Malay. The minaret, ablution pool and entrance arch were built at the same time with the main building. The kampung kling mosque is named based on the place where Indian traders dwell in that place called Kampung Kling.

Popularly called the Jonker Street, Jonker Walk or the Jonker Hang Jebat, this street is a very attractive place in Melaka and a popular area to visit. It was a great day out,...

It was a great day out, nearly 2hrs drive though. The driver was very good, comfortable car. He parked up and it was quite easy to get around, everything was just in one place. Rickshaws are available to have a quick 30 mins tour. We finished early by 2.30pm to beat the traffic otherwise it would take 3-4hrs. One thing we didn’t like is the driver kept taking pics of us as proof for the company. Would recommend this tour.

Great driver

Our driver was great. He was very friendly and answered all our questions. He made sure we knew where we were going and had plenty of time to explore! If you want a guided tour with a guide walking you around I’d recommend a different tour. If you are happy exploring on your own (like we were) this is great!

Enjoyable day trip to Malacca from Kuala Lumpur

We enjoyed our day trip to Malacca. The car was comfortable and our driver Nami was professional. On the day of our trip I received a WhatsApp call but my settings don't allow calls from strangers, so when I saw the missed call, I added Nami as a contact and I was able to reply. Make sure you change your settings prior to your trip. Nami was punctual and arrived early. Nami said that usually there is a lot of traffic going to Melacca at weekends and roads are closed. If you can go on a weekday, I expect the drive may be shorter. Nami said it could take three hours to drive back sometimes. We were very lucky that the Sunday we chose was the one after the school holidays so traffic was not bad. We enjoyed this private car charter and enjoyed exploring on our own. We had a few photo stops; time to shop in a market and also 2.5 hour free time in central Malacca. Nami took photos of us at each stop and said they were for the office and not for social media. I expect this is proof we went to each stop. I didn't really like to have my photo taken but I guess his boss asked him, so I agreed. We would recommend this tour as it's straightforward and great to hop into a car with air conditioning.
