Description

Saijo is one of Japan's three major sake-producing regions. There are seven sake breweries within walking distance of Saijo Station, and you can efficiently tour three of the seven breweries in an hour and a half while listening to an English guide explain the history of each brewery and the sake they make. You can also sample sake recommended by each brewery. You can sample a variety of sake, including daiginjo, junmai sake, and umeshu, so you're sure to find your favorite. Some breweries do not offer sake tastings on weekdays, so being able to sample at such breweries is extremely valuable. *According to Japanese law, the legal drinking age is 20. Participants under 20, including infants, are not allowed to join. *This is a tasting tour. Please note that you will not be able to observe the sake brewing process.

3-Brewery Tour in Saijo

Our guide Yoshiko was 100% amazing! She shared her story with us of how she came to Saijo and her knowledge of this special town. The breweries were wonderful as was learning about how sake is produced. She was also instrumental in helping us resolve our train ticket issue that we screwed up. I highly recommend this tour if hour are thinking of coming to Saijo!

Calm drinks in the Best Sake Town

Must try for the sake enthusiasts. Guide was very knowledgeable of the sake making process and the history of the sake town. The sakes tasted are high quality and I have bought a few of them for myself. We had some time so the guide showed me another brewery that wasn't in the tour (Saijotsuru). Tasting in that brewery was paid out of pocket and was a surprise bonus in the tour. Overall, would recommend to any sake enjoyers.

Historical nihonshu (sake) tour

Yuki was a lovely guide to investigate this area with. While some of the other groups were large, I was fortunate to be in a small group with her. Great history of brewing Nihonshu in this area! What an experience and worth the trip from Hiroshima.

Nice tour with very friendly Tour guide

If you want to experience sake tasting at different brewery, this tour is for you . But If you want to learn more details and see the process of making sake inside brewery then please choose another type of tour since this tour will not allow visitors inside the factory. My tour guide was very friendly person, she explained me about various sake and history of saijo sake breweries. Overall nice experience but I will reserve another tour soon for viewing inside brewery.

An enjoyable and interesting tour

This tour was really enjoyable, and our guide, Ione, was very knowledgable and engaging about the sake brewing process. The three breweries we visited - Kamotsuru, Fukubijin and Hakubotan - each produced interesting and delicious sakes - it’s well worth buying on the spot, when the memory of the style and taste of each is fresh in the mind (I really regret not buying a bottle at Fukubijin - next time…)
