Visitors to the castle can explore its extensive grounds and climb to the top floor for a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding area.

Admission not included60 min

When visiting Himeji Castle, a notable area to explore for dining options is Kouroen Former Residence Park. Here, you'll find a charming lineup of restaurants and souvenir shops. This park creatively repurposes Edo-period residences, transforming them into dining establishments where you can enjoy a meal amidst historical surroundings. PLEASE NOTE: Unti1 February 28th, entrance fee inside the castle IS INCLUDED. From March 1st, to explore the interior of the castle structures, please purchase a 2,500 JPY entry ticket yourself at the castle on the day.

After descending from Himeji Castle, visitors can take a leisurely stroll through Kokoen Garden, conveniently located adjacent to the castle grounds. Kokoen Garden is renowned for its meticulously designed landscape, divided into nine distinct areas, each showcasing different styles from the Edo period. Before returning to the bus, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely lunch (not included) at one of the nearby shops or restaurants situated near the entrance of the castle area. This provides a relaxing way to conclude the visit, surrounded by the historical ambiance of Himeji Castle and its picturesque surroundings. Great experience and worth the money!

Great to learn new things about Japan. Very informative and once in a lifetime experience with lots of sunshine and lots of exercise walking around. Only cost about $66 USD not including the lunch which was about $15 with udon, eel and tempura.

Strange Guide

This was a strange experience. The tour itself was nice, and the garden is some of the most beautiful I have seen, but our guide was very strange. The very entrance to the castle was not included at the time we went, so the guide walked around on the bus to find out who wanted a ticket and not, and he pushed people who were too bad for bones to buy a ticket. The guide also spoke poor English, so it was difficult to understand what he said. In addition, his behavior was bad. He asked my boyfriend if he couldn't mind killing me to get a new bride, and seemed very suspended in that he wanted us to be naked, and look at other naked people in the onsen. In addition, he kept talking about how cool it was to drink alcohol, and that we should all do more of it. Maybe he was trying to be funny, but we didn't like it.

Castles, Hot Springs and A Great View

I took this tour in May with Hari with a medium sized group. We had several opportunities to explore Himeji Castle and Arima Town. I had a good experience with this tour. Our guide Hari was a fount of stories regarding each site. I was impressed by the majesty of the castle built to defend against military attack. I enjoyed soaking my feet in the hot foot bath of Arima Onsen and wandering around the town. We finished the day with a spectacular view of Osaka from Mt. Rokko
