Description

Let us create the most unique and memorable experience in Tangier. We will uncover the beauty and hidden charm of the city, that is off the beaten path. Allow us to navigate the cultural and communication differences to make the most of your time. Asilah, the first harbor of the Atlantic coast, was founded in the 8th century BC by the Phoenicians, who named the settlement Zili. Asilah was a constant battle ground. In 1589, control passed from the Portuguese to the Spanish, who held the town for 80 years before Sultan Moulay Ismail stormed the defenses in 1691 The Spanish built a Harmonious New Town beside the Medina, from which a slowly evolving new harbor and beaches extend northwards along the coast.

Continued excellent experience

This is the third and final review of our 3 days touring with Achraf. We chose to see Asilah, about 45 minutes south of Tangier by private driver. The coastline is a beautiful and interesting mix of seaside scenes and surprising grazing lands right up to the shore. Achraf helped explain the specific history of the area and shared the Asilah structures that punctuated his points. Walking the medina, the white washed residences and shops contrasted with the many murals painted by this year’s artists, invited to share their ideas through shape and color. After enjoying a delightful lunch at Cafe Pepe, a restaurant in the heart of town, we relaxed on the pleasant drive back to Tangier. In sum, we enjoyed our 3 tours with Achraf and his personal drivers. He is a knowledgeable and capable guide who has the best interests of his guests at heart, and we recommend his services.
