Hidden Osaka Foodie Tour: Nishinari Backstreets & Local Dining

Jamie was a delight. She was knowledgeable and very passionate about both Japanese food and Osaka. It was clear that this is her community. Her food and drink choices let us try some new things, which we are always up for. We loved that this tour was in a different part of Osaka than most of the tourist attractions. I highly recommend doing a food tour with Jamie.

Highly recommend this tour, as a small group you get to access places you normally wouldn’t, the locals are very friendly and welcoming and Jaime has a wealth of knowledge about the area.

Great tour, especially if you're looking for something off the beaten track. Tour guide Jamie feels passionately about the Nishinari neighborhood, its history and diversity and that enthusiasm is infectious. She took me to several extremely authentic Izakaya for delicious dishes that you won't find at Dotonburi. Come hungry and don't make any dinner reservations for afterwards. Highly recommended!

Jamie immediately made us feel comfortable and made us laugh with her anecdotes about the neighborhood where she lives. I’m not a native English speaker, but Jamie speaks with a very clear and easy-to-understand accent, so I was able to understand everything! She is very knowledgeable about Japanese culture, history, and everyday life. She also knows many local shops run by Japanese people. I had a lot of fun and made friends, thank you!

Jamie’s tour takes you to deep local spots that even the locals rarely visit. She knows the history of the area better than I do, and all the restaurants we went to were amazing. Thank you so much Jamie! I’ll definitely recommend your tour to my friends when they visit Osaka.

I had the honor of going on a tour with Jamie recently, and it was such an incredible experience. Having lived in Japan for 10 years, I thought I knew Osaka pretty well — but the amount of history, culture, and local knowledge Jamie shared completely blew my mind. If you want to experience the real Osaka — beyond the usual tourist spots like Namba and Dotonbori — I can’t recommend Jamie’s tour enough. This foodie journey did not disappoint! Jaymie was a great guide showiing a little history of the area which was so informative, seeing graffiti artist works good food and history. Hands down a must try adventure.

A good mix of history, culture, food and local tips. Interactions were genuine, after a while we didn’t feel too out of place. This was thanks to our wonderful guide, who was calm, attentive, and helped us relax so we could be open to these experiences. Well paced, not hurried, and great photo opportunities for street art and urban settings. Would definitely recommend.

Jamie provided a comprehensive experience of Osaka's contemporary culture and lifestyle while explaining modern Osaka's link to its past. The tour felt very 'real' as we wandered through old parts of the city, took the subway to shrines and temples and experienced traditional foods and shopping streets. Jamie is an excellent guide. She is thoughtful of the needs of the group and took time to chat with all participants. She was very knowledgeable about Osaka, a place she calls home.

I had the amazing opportunity to join a tour with Jam Leopard and had an amazing time. I definitely felt like I wouldn’t have found these places or learned what I did had I not gone on this tour!
