Portland from the river.

Board as early as possible to get a good seat or get shade on the upper deck for day cruises. Very mellow vibe.

Narrator gave us good...

Narrator gave us good information. Unfortunately, a small child didn't want to be there and cried A LOT!!! So we missed some of it. Beautiful day! Great Sunday afternoon activity.

Operator response

Good value, comfortable boat ride

We enjoyed the ride and the bar service. We got to see things along the river that are not accessible from land. Our seats were comfortable, and we were able to stay in the shade. The value for the cost was good.

Bad customer service

The boat ride was ok to say the least. Older looking /style decor and boat. Could barely hear the narration inside on the lower level. Me and my partner walked upstairs to get drinks for our group of 6. (In case the responder asks , I booked a group of 4 and group of 2 - July 22nd at 3:30pm). We Waited in line and noticed the bartender was a little rude the the guest in front of us but as soon as we walked up no smile, no greeting, nothing, and it was the bar manager, I believe Devyn, (she had facial piercings so that’s how to recognize her). I told her our order for 6 drinks, 5 alcoholic and 1 soda. And rolls her eyes, starts making the drink and goes “so you want how many gin and tonic?” I tell her 2 again and she only makes one, and my pink Lemonade drink, angrily throwing the ice into the cup, and just acting ugly. I’m already mad but I didn’t want to get thrown off the boat because nothing was said to make her mad or to get the type of behavior she had towards us, but she’s nice to all the white guests…maybe something about race I don’t know. But towards the end she goes “so 2 pink lemonades and I say no. 1 pink lemonade 2 gin and tonic, and she just says is the person over 21 and I tell her yes , like go walk downstairs and look for yourself , and some man was behind her and luckily said “yes they are “ and she continued making the drink. But what a terrible way to start off the cruise . Then prints out the receipts and puts them on the table with all our drinks, she gets the next persons order behind me, but is talking over me because I haven’t left yet, needless to say I wrote $0.00 for a tip, and we grabbed our drinks and walked away. And as we are, she grabs both of those receipts , crumbles them up and throws them in the trash in front of me. Very unprofessional behavior, disgusting to say the least, very lucky I didn’t want to get kicked off the boat.. but even my partner and his father said she was awful. So that set us in a mood but then about 15 minutes or so after my boyfriend goes up and orders us 2 spicy chicken bites, 1 birria taquito, and 1 fry. He came back and said she still had an attitude and even noticed it with the people that were in front of him, very impatient. He comes back down and we wait 5-15 minutes and some young girl walks over to our table and says “we ran out of fries” (yet they still are serving other tables and how do they restock after we get off, I personally don’t think they they ran out..) , but at this point he just tells her to cancel the order to get a refund because this crew does not deserve any more money from us , and from looking at the reviews it would’ve been gross food anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️. Then a while after the photographer that took our picture before we got on the boat, walked up to our table and said with a straight face “here’s your picture do you want to buy it?” , like you are working for us and should be giving good customer service, and greeting us with a smile, and I don’t care if it’s your first day on the job or we are your last group of the day, that’s unacceptable. And how do you expect to get a tip, or good attitude back when these kids and bar manager act all rude and ugly? We are very nice and friendly people but when you act this way , don’t expect us to still act friendly back. I would never even leave a review but these people deserve a bad one. Even when walking off the boat, the lady that checked us in (olderish lady with glasses and curly hair in a ponytail) was also standing by the door saying bye to everyone and holding the door as they got off, and my partner just says to her “can I get some help, for the refund,”and her smile drops and she just says “yup I already did” , not even “oh yes! I did that upstairs, you’ll receive it back in your account in this many days, sorry about that! Or anything! She didn’t say anything to me either but that’s fine I was done with them and just wanted to get off. All in all, if they respond , don’t give me an excuse to why you guys acted that way, just check your attitude when talking to customers, and if you don’t like working with people … don’t work there, plain and simple. But Everyone I tell about this ride isn’t going to be a good review, so just be better.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear about your experience, as this is absolutely not the impression we want any guest to leave with after cruising with us. We take comments like yours very seriously. As soon as we became aware of your review, we shared it with our entire management team and our General Manager. We have already begun speaking with each of the team members mentioned so we can better understand what happened that afternoon. While we strive to provide warm, attentive service to every guest, it is clear from your experience that we fell short that day. Customer service is something we take great pride in. In fact, it is the compliment we receive most often in our guest reviews, which makes it especially disappointing to read that you felt unwelcome. Regardless of how busy a shift may be or what challenges may be happening behind the scenes, our guests deserve to be greeted with professionalism, patience and kindness. Our General Manager, Mindy Caldwell, has already reached out and left you a voicemail because we would genuinely appreciate the opportunity to speak with you personally, learn more about your experience, and see if there is a way we can make things right. If you're willing, please give her a call at 503-943-9132 or email her directly at Mindy@portlandspirit.com. We would truly welcome the opportunity to earn back your trust. Thank you again for bringing your concerns to our attention.

The narration was informative. Good food service. The only real negative on the Crystal Dolphin vessel was limited outdoor upper deck comfortable seating and none of the space was covered.
