The Hanoi Opera House is one of the most iconic landmarks of the city. Built by the French between 1901 and 1911, it was inspired by the Palais Garnier in Paris, featuring elegant neoclassical architecture with pillars, arches, and beautifully decorated domes. Originally, it served as a cultural center for French officials and the elite during the colonial period. Today, it remains a symbol of Hanoi’s rich history and artistic culture. The Opera House hosts many important events such as classical music concerts, ballets, traditional Vietnamese performances, and government ceremonies. Located right in the heart of the city, the building stands out with its yellow-and-white façade and a grand square in front. Even if visitors don’t go inside, it is still a wonderful spot for photos and for appreciating Hanoi’s architectural heritage.
Truc Bach Lake is a lovely area known for its peaceful atmosphere and great local food. Visitors can enjoy lakeside cafés, street-food stalls, and small restaurants serving dishes like fresh seafood, noodles, and the famous Truc Bach grilled fermented pork (phở cuốn and phở chiên phồng are also popular nearby). It’s a great spot to relax, enjoy the view, and taste authentic Hanoi flavors.
Located in the heart of the Old Quarter, St. Joseph’s Cathedral is one of Hanoi’s most iconic landmarks. Built in 1886 in neo-Gothic style, it features tall towers, stained-glass windows, and a peaceful courtyard. The area around the cathedral is lively with cafés, making it a popular spot for both locals and travelers, especially in the evenings.
Hanoi’s Train Street is one of the city’s most iconic and thrilling attractions. Tucked between the narrow houses of a local neighborhood, this railway track runs right through a lively residential area, where trains pass just inches from daily life. As you walk along the tracks, you’ll see families cooking, children playing, and cafés set up right by the rails — creating a unique blend of local charm and excitement. The highlight comes when the train approaches: lights flashing, horns echoing, and the entire street quickly folding away tables and chairs to make room. Watching a massive train rush past at such a close distance is an unforgettable experience and a perfect snapshot of Hanoi’s vibrant street culture. Hanoi Train Street has become a must-visit spot for travelers seeking something authentic, adventurous, and truly “only in Vietnam.”
Long Bien Bridge is one of Hanoi’s most historic and iconic landmarks. Built in 1902 during the French colonial period, the bridge was designed by the architects behind the Eiffel Tower, giving it a distinctive steel structure and timeless charm. Stretching across the Red River, Long Bien served as the first bridge to connect Hanoi with the northern provinces, playing a crucial role in trade and transportation. During the Vietnam War, the bridge became a strategic target and was heavily bombed, yet many of its original sections still stand today — a powerful symbol of resilience and history. Walking or riding along the bridge, you can feel the cool river breeze, witness daily life on the farms below, and enjoy panoramic views of Hanoi’s skyline. Long Bien Bridge is not just a piece of architecture; it’s a living monument that captures the spirit, endurance, and soul of old Hanoi.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area is one of the most important historical and political landmarks in Vietnam. Located in the heart of Ba Dinh Square, this is where President Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam’s independence in 1945. Today, the mausoleum stands as a solemn memorial honoring the founding father of modern Vietnam. Surrounding the mausoleum is a peaceful complex that includes the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House, the beautiful botanical gardens, and the One Pillar Pagoda — one of the country’s most unique temples. The entire area is spacious, clean, and deeply symbolic, offering visitors a quiet moment to reflect on Vietnam’s history. Walking through this complex, you can feel both the dignity and simplicity associated with President Ho Chi Minh, making it a meaningful stop for anyone exploring Hanoi.
Ngoc Island – Ngu Xa is a charming food haven tucked beside Trúc Bạch Lake, famous for its long-standing culinary traditions and peaceful local atmosphere. This small neighborhood is a perfect stop for travelers who want to taste authentic Hanoi flavors. Here, you can enjoy signature local dishes such as banana blossom salad (nộm hoa chuối) with its refreshing crunch, fresh rice-paper rolls (phở cuốn) filled with beef and herbs, and the iconic crispy fried noodle pillow (phở chiên phồng) — light, airy, and deliciously unique. Each dish reflects the creativity and rich food culture of the Ngu Xa community. A visit to Ngoc Island – Ngu Xa offers not only great food but also an intimate glimpse into Hanoi’s everyday life by the lake.

How insightful, fun and interactive. Stella and kie are super knowledgeable and tell you stories about the history with passion and a new eye from a younger generation. My teenage son rated this trip as a must do. Book it now....a must do for all ages!!!!
Our family had a great experience on this trip! My girls age 15, 13 and 11 didn't want it to finish and have asked if we can book and do it again. The tour guide (Gina) was really knowledgeable and interesting. She kept the girls engaged and she was easy to understand, her English was impeccable! We were expecting all girl drivers, however there were 2 males for our party. I had booked all female drivers so my children didn't feel uncomfortable on the back of the bike with a man but as it turned out they felt comfortable and safe the whole time and didn't bat an eyelid in the end so it was no issue. We stopped for food which was really good and again my girls loved this too! On booking the trip I believed this was a multiple food stop trip but that wasn't the itinerary so perhaps double check upon receiving your booking confirmation if this is important to you as they may differ depending on the guide. 🤷🏼♀️ Overall we loved this, even though it wasn't 100% as expected and if we were to book again(which the girls are begging me to do) I would book it with this tour guide. 🤩
If you're looking for the best way to experience Hanoi, don't think twice—book this tour! I had an absolutely amazing day exploring the city with Stella. She is young, cheerful, full of positive energy, and instantly makes you feel comfortable. It felt much more like spending the day with a friend than taking a guided tour. Stella didn't just show me the famous sights—she introduced me to the real Hanoi. We explored hidden streets, learned about local culture and everyday life, and experienced the unique vibe that makes this city so special. Every stop came with an interesting story, and I learned so much about Vietnamese traditions and lifestyle. She also gave me fantastic restaurant recommendations, from authentic local food to places I would never have found on my own. On top of that, we even had fun conversations about Vietnamese skincare and cosmetics, which was such an unexpected and enjoyable part of the day! Riding through Hanoi on the scooter was exciting, safe, and unforgettable. Thanks to Stella's confidence and great personality, I could simply relax and enjoy every moment. This wasn't just a city tour—it was a wonderful cultural experience filled with laughter, great conversations, delicious food, and unforgettable memories. Thank you, Stella, for making my day in Hanoi so special. I couldn't recommend this tour—and especially Stella—more highly!
What a great way to see an amazing city! My husband booked this for our family and at first I was a bit dubious, but I was blown away by how much fun it was and what a great tour guide Gina was as well. She tailored the tour to what we wanted to do with our teenage boys. Even though riding through the city streets appears to be quite scary, I felt safe the whole time. I highly recommend this tour!
Motorbiking through the city was bliss. The tour guide Gina was a delight and allocated an adequate amount of time with every activity. Sweet rides aswell. 👍
Absolutely loved our tour today! Gina and the ladies were absolutely amazing. Loved the fact it was a private tour just for our family. It gave us full flexibility on how long we wanted to spend at each location. The food and the commentary was brilliant. My two teenage sons loved the motorbike experience; the traffic is hectic but we felt very safe. Thank you again!
Me and my partner had a lovely tour with Viet from Vietnam. He was on time to our hotel and picked us without any issues. He gave us a guided tour through out hanoi busy centre and up into the country side. Showing us around beautiful farms and hidden gems. We would highly recommend anyone looking to experience the proper local side of Vietnam to book this experience. Thank you again Viet.
Had an amazing private countryside motorbike tour of Hanoi, visiting local spots and the banana island. The tour guide, Viet, was absolutely amazing, explaining all the best spots and the history of places we visited. Would highly recommend booking a tour with them.
Stella was an amazing and resourceful tour guide, very knowledgeable of the area and culture. Very fluent in English and well worth the money.
This motorbike tour is a must-have in Hanoi, unless you'd like to trudge around the city boiling alive. Our guide, Stella, was an absolute gem to have and the three or four hours we spent on this tour went by extremely quickly. She clearly knows her way around the city and has many connections to secure you very good spots around Hanoi. We visited historical sites, cultural sites, and even sites on Banana Island that gave us perspective into how Hanoi farmers live. It's extremely beautiful the city and I'm glad the motorbike riders were able to maneuver us around it and show off a glimpse of Hanoi's beauty. The riders are also extremely skilled and you can put away any fears that you'll end up in an accident. It's very easy to ride onto the bikes without holding onto it and take the photos you want. It's overall a very cheap experience with a very nice lunch paid for, and it gives you an experience that many itineraries online will not provide. The only advice I would give involves the route. I wish there was perhaps a bit more we could see, as it seems we passed by some sights (and sites) that I would've liked to see, such as the Lenin statue and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. I think positioning more walking around would be welcome, but again, I think this tour already provides a unique look into Hanoi's more ignored places. This is not your average, general, motorbike tour that will take you to the tourist locations. Rather, this is best for you'd take if you want to see a more deep perspective into Hanoi's people and culture. Also my rider was the absolute goat. Love that guy.
