A fantastic authentic street food experience

I’d highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for an authentic street food experience in Hanoi! Max was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. He took us to some of the best local street food spots that we never would have found on our own, and he shared plenty of great recommendations for places to visit after the tour. After spending two weeks travelling around Vietnam, my son said this was the highlight of his entire trip. If you’re visiting Hanoi, don’t miss the chance to explore the city’s incredible food scene with Max!

Having the opportunity to hear and see the Vietnamese perspective of the war added a powerful layer of depth to the entire experience. His depth of knowledge made the history come alive in a really meaningful way. I couldn't recommend Max highly enough. A must-do tour if you want a genuine, enlightening look into Vietnam!

Max in a Million – The Perfect Introduction to Hanoi!

Our private Hanoi street food walking tour with Max was the perfect way to spend our very first evening in Vietnam. It was an unforgettable experience and set us up brilliantly for the rest of our trip. From the moment we met him, Max made us feel at ease. He shared practical local tips that we used throughout our stay, including his memorable advice on navigating Hanoi’s busy streets: when the pavements are full of scooters, “walk like noodles” (single file), and when crossing the road, “be sticky rice” (stick together). We were laughing, but it really worked! As we explored the Old Quarter, Max pointed out the area’s highlights while taking us to fantastic local eateries that we would never have found on our own. He explained each dish, showed us how to prepare and eat the food properly, and gave us a real insight into Vietnamese food and culture. At the end of the tour, he also recommended several places for us to try the following day, and every recommendation was excellent. Max is a truly outstanding guide—friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about his city. If you’re visiting Hanoi, do yourself a favour and book a tour with him. He’s quite simply Max in a Million!

Fabulous experience

This was a fantastic experience. Max was a fabulous guide. He was knowledgeable, in the sights we visited, and answered all our questions. The tour includes a variety of locations and was very comprehensive and informative. Despite the popularity of the location, Max found us first-class seats at Train Street for a really impressive experience. If you take one trip in Hanoi, take this one!

Authentic and yummy North Vietnamese foodie tour with local guide Max

Max’s tour was definitely our favorite tour of our entire month’s-long trip to Vietnam. His English is perfect, I double checked to see if he grew up in L.A. hahaha. His background knowledge of the cuisine he shared with us was my favorite part of the tour. The other memorable experience was his personal touch and helpful recommendations for places to go after the tour was over. Finally, out of ALL of the places to spend our 20th anniversary; we chose to spend that day at our favorite place Max took us to the previous day. If I come back to Hanoi (which I am certain I will), I plan to take his foodie tour again!
