David (?) was an excellent guide this past summer. We were two guys late 20’s travelling through Yangshou and this was exactly the tour I was hoping for — we were able to get tea, learn a bit about how it is harvested, harvest our own, and even shown how to roll it out and bake it. Surprisingly, it was just us two on the tour. I would say it wasn’t a complete class on tea, but i’m not sure there is such a thing for english speakers. As someone who loves tea and wanted to learn more, this was a great experience. In addition, David took us to many scenic spots in the area and I was able to take some of the best pictures of the landscape of the entire trip. We talked with david about american movies and life and all around great day.
Dear guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a wonderful review! We are absolutely delighted to hear you had such an amazing experience with David during your tea tour in Yangshuo. We’re very happy that you enjoyed the whole tea experience—from tasting local tea, learning about the harvesting process, picking your own tea leaves, to rolling and baking them. It means a lot to us that you found this tour exactly what you were hoping for. We’re also glad that you got to visit many beautiful scenic spots and took some fantastic photos of Yangshuo’s stunning landscape. David will be very happy to know you enjoyed his company, the conversations, and your whole day out together. Thank you again for your kind words and for choosing our tour. We really hope to welcome you back to Yangshuo someday for more wonderful experiences! Best regards, Truly China Travel Team
My guide, Anna, made this entire experience unforgettable. From the moment the day began, she was warm, personable, and easy to connect with. She shared insights about the history, culture, and traditions of the Xiong Gang Mountain area in a way that felt natural and engaging—not scripted. The logistics were handled perfectly. Everything—from transportation to timing at each stop—was smooth and stress-free, allowing us to simply enjoy the scenery and immerse ourselves in the tea plantation experience. Anna made sure we were comfortable throughout the journey and happily answered every question we had. If you’re considering a visit to Xiong Gang Mountain or the nearby tea plantations, I highly recommend booking with Anna. She made our trip incredibly meaningful, seamless, and genuinely enjoyable

I went to Xianggong Hill and the tea plantation in the morning. The guide, David, waited to pick me up from the hotel even though there was an error on my side and was very helpful and nice. He provided lots of useful information about the places we visited. We stopped for pictures and to take a closer look to different things that caught my attention along the way. David was a very good company and made my day beautiful. At the tea plantation we picked up our own tea and tasted a variety of teas. This was such a pleasant experience!
Thank you very much for your appreciation. We are glad that you are satisfied with our tour and services. Your recognition is the driving force behind our continued efforts. Best Wishes Daniel Huang Truly China Travel's Team
We enjoyed the half-day tour to the Tea Plantation & Xianggong Hill in Yangshuo County very much. Our guide Daniel took us on a scenic drive in the hills and shared his deep knowledge about the area, tea and various other topics. We learned and saw a lot and had a great hands on experience at the tea plantation making our own green tea from scratch. Daniel is an amazing photographer, so besides our own tea we also have some fun pictures as memories to take home. We can all highly recommend him! Thank you Daniel :)
Thank you for your valuable feedback. Your satisfaction is our goal, and we will continue to strive to provide you with better service and travel experience. Kind Regards Daniel Huang Truly China Travel's Team
Had an excellent day with Daniel! The tea plantation was beautiful and the tea ceremony very interesting. This was one of the highlights of my two week trip to China.
Thank you very much for your wonderful review, I hope one day you can come to China again, and I would like to share more and more beautiful things with you! Wishing you good health and a happy family!
Daniel arranged a bespoke tour to visit Xianggong mountain and then the tea plantation. We were a small group of Scottish people and New Zealanders. He arranged everything and had a comfortable, air conditioned vehicle to take us around. The views from the mountain are absolutely stunning. The visit to the tea plantation was brilliant! Daniel has really good English and had a friendly approach. Thanks for a great day!
Hello! Chris O, it's nice to meet you all in Yangshuo! It is my honor to serve you, the largest tea plantation and stunning Xianggong Hill is one of our local tour packages. We would like to share our Tea culture by leading foreign friends to pick, make and taste tea in the tea plantation, so that foreign friends could have a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional Tea culture. Xianggong Mountain is the best place for photography discovered by the local photography association, and it's the most beautiful place in Yangshuo. When foreign friends come to Yangshuo, we really want to share the REAL beauty of Yangshuo with you. Thank you for your wonderful review. I hope you have the opportunity to come back to China again. Wishing you a happy life and good health!
Anna took very good care of me. She was caring, respectful and fun. We had a wonderful time biking along the Yulong River and seeing the sights. She was an outstanding guide and I would recommend her as a guide. She spoke very good English. We had a great day together.
Thank you very much for your support! Your satisfaction is our goal.
Great experience from the first moment to the last. Tour guide Daniel and Anna assisted in picking up and dropping off and was punctual throughout. Cycling through the scenic town and country side of Yangshuo was breathe taking. Moon hill hike was worth the climb with stunning views at the top and Gold caves were majestic. Overall a fantastic experience that I would recommend to everyone.
thank you! I hope you can visit Guilin again.
Cycling the countryside is a great way to see Yangshuo. It's so beautiful scenery and peaceful that the quality of the guide does not matter as you're taking a history lesson, at least not for me - that's not why I wanted this tour. It is about being active and being outside. And you'll definitely get that. You'll see Yangshuo and it's beauty in a fantastic way. A guide is useful of you do not speak Chinese. I am a solo Western traveler and was the only person on this tour. Regarding this specific tour company: George was a good guide. He has good English, is generally friendly, and will share lots of historic facts about China with you. I would've given this tour a 4-star review if it wasn't for two things you should be aware of, both of which were off putting for me. 1) The guide may have you pay for his lunch and he will order the overly expensive, too large portion (so he can take home the leftovers) that will cost you triple of what you would pay for a meal by yourself. Details: At the end of our hike, George took me to the street restaurant right next to Moon Hill. I asked him what he recommends and he said the chicken. He ordered for us. The average entree with a drink there would normally cost ~50rmb, which is already overpriced for Yangshuo. I was willing to pay for the George's meal as a gesture of gratitude, but when I realized he intentionally ordered the largest portion of the most expensive dish, I was not happy. It's the principle of what he did and is not about the money. The bill came out to 185rmb and when I asked the guide if we are splitting the bill, the waitress quickly interrupted and said, "you pay for your guide. Yes?" So I felt obligated. It felt like a prearranged agreement between them. I do not speak Chinese so I do not know what they talked about. 2) I was the only person on this tour, and despite having arranged a meeting time that was still in acordance with the set itinerary, the owner, Daniel felt the need to threaten leaving me behind. Details: this tour says the hotel pickup is 8:30am, 8:40-8:50 you try out bikes, and at 9am, you leave West Street and START the actual tour. That morning, I was on the mountain for the sunrise tour, and I had WeChat with Daniel at 7:15am to find out how many other people would be on the tour. He said it was only me. So I asked if I could skip the hotel pickup and I would have someone drop me off at West Street at 8:50am. He said sure, it was only me. On the way back to West Street from the mountain, my driver and I were delayed by a stopped dump truck blocking the way and so I messaged Daniel to let him know that it may be closer to 9am. The time I notified him was 8:20am. He promptly tells me that the tour starts at 8:30 and that they cannot wait for me if there are others. What I don't understand is that there was no need for him to threaten that since it was ONLY ME and I was arriving in time with the set schedule written in this tour summary. I was not delaying them and there was no one else on the tour to begin with. And if someone did decide to join within the 10 mins, would they truly have left me behind if I showed up a few mins later than what Daniel and I agreed to earlier that morning?! When I met the guide at 8:57, he asked for us to wait since it was still raining. We didn't leave until after 9:15. It was nice that Daniel agreed to let me meet them directly at West Street. But it's also important to point out that they didn't have to pick me up and I was still on schedule, their posted timeline. His responses were unnecessary and off putting.
Thanks for your feedback. We are very sorry that it brought you some uncomfortable experiences. According to the guide, chicken was one of the local speciality at that restaurant he took you. He wanted you to eat as locals. And at last he did not want to waste food, so he took the rest home. He was born at a farmer's house and he cherished the food very much. It was definitely his fault and he already learned a good lessen from it. And for your second point. Because it was a group tour instead of a private tour, that's why we have to set an exact pick up time everytime beforehand, then no one would be late, this time you had changed the meeting time twice with me, but you were still late... Luckily it was only you on that day, so when you asked me to wait you at West Street instead of your hotel, I agreed. But I was worried you couldn't find us, you wouldn't be able to join the tour, that's why I asked a photo of you and told you to meet the guide in the front of the KFC at the West street, so that you could easily find us and you wouldn't miss the tour. To be honest, I was never ever want to leave you behind, I just wanted to treat you well as what I usually treat the others, and I wanted you to have a good experience with us. From this time, I learned an unforgetable lesson, I will always follow up with client's time schedule if there is only one passenger books the trip in the future. Thanks again for your feedback! Wish you all the best!
