Learn a dying culinary art form from an international world champion mastercarver. Discover the ancient art of Thai Fruit & Vegetable Carving at Siam Carving Academy. In this 3 hour class, you will learn how to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary with Master Carver Wan (Laong) Hertz and some of the best carvers in Thailand. Perk up your platingt to dress up your next dinner party with delicate creations from cucumbers, tomatoes and other items from the garden. Create garnishes for beautiful plates and cocktails with basic carving techniques for flowers, leaves and traditional Thai patterns. You won't find this quality of carving experience anywhere else. The carving course was an uniquely wonderful experience. There were only two of us, and we benefited greatly as a result. The course instructor has extensive knowledge, a lot of experience, and conveyed many great ideas to us with humor. We were also very well taken care of. We highly recommend the course!

We came to Bangkok for a vacation and this was TOP on our list. Wan is her nickname and she was FABULOUS ! Her English is very good, her expertise in vegetable carving is bar none. On the wall of her classroom there are about 13 Certificates from her skill, either by participating in a contest or teaching around the world. She is funny, interesting, helpful, patient, and relaxed. She and her husband are so sweet we could easily become good friends. A+++ is the rating I would give her. Couldn't have been any better.

I went for the half day course with my partner. Wan was a professional instructor and taught us how to carve vegetables into decorative pieces of art for food presentation. She is very passionate about her work and would patiently help the students one by one . As this was our first time at food carving, it was not easy but we enjoyed ourselves and were amazed by how simple carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes can look so fancy!!

One of the best and skill-full vegetable and fruit carver , Wan is very helpful and accommodating in assisting you the “ins and out” on how to carve, also the style and technique to create an amazing fruit/vegetable masterpiece as a garnish or an additional ingredients for your recipe/menu.

I attended the 3-hours class with my mother-in-law. Wan, our teacher and master carver, is very friendly and approachable. She taught us how to carve flowers, baskets and leaves using tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers. We were each provided with a carving knife which we could bring home with us. The art of carving was definitely not easy but this class was a good and fun experience for us.
