This is a value-packed combination tour, showing what the city of Hobart is most renowned for - it's fascinating convict history and its outstanding natural beauty. Witness fine examples of both, while being informed and entertained by our experienced local driver guides. Once you have finished exploring at the Cascades Female Factory our driver will return you back to our departure point or those wishing to take the (2 klm) scenic walk back to the city along the Hobart Rivulet can do so at their own pace using our printed guide. Keep a lookout on the waters edge for the platypus that call the rivulet home.

Witness the amazing views of Hobart and surrounds from the summit on this fully guided tour. Join our escorted short tour of the Observatory on the summit and a self guided tour to the Western Wilderness Lookout to view one of the last true wilderness areas on the planet. On our descent from the summit enjoy a short easy walk around the amazing Exhibition Gardens at the midway point "The Springs" There is also time to purchase a hot drink.
The Cascade Gardens are one of Hobart's classic gardens which lie against the banks of the Hobart Rivulet. Also home to the iconic Cascade Brewery ( Australia's oldest working brewery.) Take your time to wander through the gardens to then marvel at the striking facade of Cascade Brewery. A fantastic photo opportunity.
One of Australia's most significant historical sites for women, the Female Factory was the female equivalent of Port Arthur and was used to hold both women and children throughout the 1820's. Some ruins of the original building and walls still exist. A memorial garden and museum space have been built to remember the tragic lives of those women. Wander through the grounds and enjoy the gallery and gift shop while listening to the fascinating history through the audio guide.

Pickup Locations & Times
Hotel pick-ups commence approximately 40 minutes before listed start time/tour departure time. If you selected a hotel pick-up, you will receive a separate email from the tour operator. Please check your emails for the confirmed hotel pick-up time. You will receive the email within 24hrs of booking. For bookings made after closing time for the following day, you will receive your email confirming pick up details the following morning, at least 2 hrs prior to departure. Please be waiting at your hotel pick-up location 5 mins prior to your confirmed pick-up time. Not all pick-up locations are directly at the hotel. The exact pick-up location will be provided in the email sent from the tour operator. If a hotel has not been selected, your pick-up will be confirmed as Brooke St Pier, 12 Franklin Wharf, Hobart (central departure point) at 9.00am.

Was a great highlights tour of Hobart. Barry was our driver, he had some great knowledge and was very friendly. Only downside is it was a little rushed, particularly through the women’s factory but overall we really enjoyed.

Most informative. The experiences of female convicts were extremely harsh, inflicted by a patriarchal society with no intention to rehabilitate or cognition of human rights.

Although the weather didn’t cooperate, Colin our driver found alternatives and we were able to enjoy a wonderful view from Mt Nelson. Very informative tour. Cascades female factory is A MUST. The trip to Mt Wellington may be delayed even cancelled as it closes due to ice roads & the weather can be unpredictable. We had a beautiful Guide who made up for it taking us to other great lookouts. Cascade Female Factory- I would recommend a guided tour!! I had the app to listen during my visit. I still missed so much with many questions unanswered.
