A half-hour boat trip takes you to the historical Delos sanctuary, birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, Unesco's world heritage. Your guide shows you the ancient temples, mosaic floor villas, the Naxian Lions, the Roman amphitheater and more. Delos history magic

Got the ferry from cruise dock to main town then Delos boat from Mykonos town. Was an amazing place loved it, check the museum to see the real Lions plus the ones out in the village stepping back in history. Wind picked up bit hairy on way back but well worth it!

Poor service by tour operator and guide.

We checked in at the SeaBus ticket office on time, our names were verified on the operator's list and we were told to wait in the boat. It took about 20 minutes for the boat to leave to New port dock. We arrived at the Old Port at 10:00 and proceeded to the tour operator's booth. The lady in the boot said we just missed the boat to Delos. It was pulling away as we arrived. She said the next boat was at 11:30. We could take the boat over to Delos but we would not get a guided tour. I asked for a refund. She said no. When my wife and I arrived back to the dock for the 11:30 bus, the lady said she contacted the tour guide and that Silia, the tour guide had agreed to meet us at the Agora and we could catch up with the tour then. My wife and I waited at the agreed spot for 45 minutes, but Silia did not show up. I then walked back to the entrance and asked if anyone had seen Silia. One of the other tour guides said that she just left the island with her group. The tour operator did pay for our boat rides to the New Port and to Delos, but we did not benefit from the tour guide. I had asked a Viator representative for a refund, but was told none would be granted. I am a loyal user of Viator services and am disappointed that the Viator representative did not make much of an effort to get us a refund. Please provide a refund! Thanks, Raymond Reed

Operator response

Greetings from Delos Travel by Viator! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations and would like to clarify the circumstances for the benefit of future travelers. For guests who book the "Half Day Delos Tour of Mykonos from the Cruise Ship Port," the meeting time is automatically set to 9:20 a.m. because the package includes transportation from the New Port (Cruise Port) to the Old Port of Mykonos Town, where the Delos boats depart. In our post-booking communications, we also advise guests that they may use any available SeaBus departure, provided they board no later than the 9:30 a.m. departure, which allows sufficient time to reach the meeting point, complete check-in and board the 10:00 a.m. boat to Delos. The boats to Delos depart promptly at 10:00 a.m. according to schedule. Based on our records, all other guests booked on the same tour departure that day arrived and joined the tour successfully. Although the scheduled departure had already left when you arrived at the Old Port, our team made every effort to assist by arranging for you and your wife to join the next available boat to Delos at 11:30 a.m. at no additional cost. Unfortunately, this later departure does not include a guided tour, as the guided visit had already begun with the original group. By the time you arrived on Delos, the guided portion of the earlier tour was nearing completion and participants were entering the independent exploration period included in the itinerary. While we understand your disappointment at missing the guided experience, the tour itself operated as scheduled and the services booked were available at the designated meeting time. We nevertheless wanted to ensure that you could still visit the archaeological site rather than miss the experience entirely, which is why we accommodated you on the later departure. We regret that the day did not unfold as you had hoped and appreciate the opportunity to provide this clarification. We sincerely hope that despite these circumstances, you were still able to enjoy the unique history and beauty of Delos. Kind regards, The Delos Travel Team

The ferry ride over was...

The ferry ride over was pretty rough. Make sure to take Dramamine if you get seasick and bring snacks and drinks to help. Once on the island it was great and the tour guild was very knowledgeable.

They should know about...

They should know about taking the Sea Bus to the other side of the harbor so that you can get your ticket at the white building with the blue shutters for the Orca boat for Delos tours. Most of the walk at Delos is relatively flat with some steps here and there. The museum has a few artifacts excavated from Delos and there is a shortcut walk back to the dock from there. Interesting guided walking tour lasts about 1.5 hours. There are restrooms located on the Orca ship and two sets one at the entrance and another at the museum.

I recommend doing a guided tour instead of just entry tickets

We truly enjoyed this. It was easy to get off of the ship and take a water taxi to our boat that took us to the island. Our guide was a wonderful and the archeological site was amazing. I recommend doing a guided tour instead of just entry tickets.

Loved my visit to Delos!

Fantastic archaeological site to visit when you go to Mykonos! Wonderful boat ride to get there, great 90 minute tour with guide, followed by time to explore the on-site archaeological museum.

Delos is a must visit site!!

Amazing ruins and so beautiful. Be aware of the wind which can cause the ferry ride to be rocky! All in all, despite the high winds it was fabulous! A must do when in Mykonos.
