The Open-Air Museum is Japan's first outdoor museum with sculpture as its exhibition theme. It is located in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa Prefecture. The sculpture garden displays works by Henry Moore, Rodin, and others on an area of 70,000 square meters with rich natural scenery. You can enjoy the art works in a picnic mood.
Owakudani is located in Hakone City, southeast of Mount Fuji. It is a famous tourist attraction in Fuji-Hakone. Owakudani, a Japanese tourist attraction, is the remains of a crater formed by a volcanic eruption in the northern belly of the sacred mountain at the end of the Hakone volcanic activity about 400,000 years ago. It is also called "the Great Hell". Most of the spring water in Owakudani is poisonous. It was originally called Oojigoku, which was formed by the eruption of Mount Hakone 3,000 years ago. It was renamed Owakudani in 1876 when Emperor Meiji visited there.
Togendai is a transportation hub in Hakone, located on the northeast shore of Lake Ashi. It is also one of Hakone's attractions. There are various specialty shops and restaurants here, and it is also a good place to view Mount Fuji from afar.
The pirate ship connects Togendai Port, Hakone-machi Port, and Moto-Hakone Port, and the voyage takes about 25 to 40 minutes. The view of Hakone from the lake is really beautiful. The ship is a space that both adults and children can enjoy, with 3D art and pirate items. Lake Ashi is a scenic tourist destination with Mount Fuji reflected on the lake. Why not board a pirate ship modeled after a medieval European warship and enjoy the scenery of the four seasons?
Hakone Shrine was founded in 757 by Manmaki Shonin on Mt. Hakone, which has been a sacred place for mountain worship since ancient times. It is a shrine with a long history and was worshipped by many military commanders such as Minamoto no Yoritomo and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Hakone Shrine has been revered as the Great God of Hakone, the general guardian of Kanto, since ancient times. It is worshipped as a god of good fortune that is very effective in traffic safety, the fulfillment of wishes, and good luck and misfortune. There are many attractions such as the 800-year-old cedar tree-lined approach to the shrine and the prefectural-level special natural monument, the Himesara Pure Forest. The treasure hall exhibits a statue of Manmaki Shonin and the red wood-handled short sword used by the Soga brothers.

There was no set schedule for activities, so there wasn't a sense of urgency to rush. Because of that it's good for the family with children or elderlies, especially in inclement weather. The driver was very nice. He took us to all the places that we requested. Lastly, it would be a good idea to have a plan before you talk to the driver.
Hakone is a lovely place. We highly recommend taking more than one hour at the Open Air Sculpture Garden - insist on it! Our driver was kind and efficient and an excellent driver.

We went on a customized private tour. It turned out to be one of the best decisions. Our tour guide was very helpful and helped us design a great tour plan. The tour was great and we had a blast.
