Hakone is so beautiful! Our guide Zee was great! The outdoor art museum was truly incredible and rain or shine, It’s a great place to go.
We had Zee as our tour guide and hel was fantastic. He was very accomodating and super nice. The car was very clean and comfortable. We got to see and do alot in one day.

Zee was our driver and guide. He was prompt, courteous, and friendly. He provided great commentary throughout our day and gave us great instructions before we embarked on each part of the trip. We spent our last day in Japan on this tour and it was the perfect ending to our stay.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled our team made your last day in Japan so special - we’ll be sure to pass along your compliments. It was a pleasure to host you, and we hope to welcome you back on your next visit. Safe travels!
Our guide, Ali, was incredible. He took us on the perfect day to see everything we wanted. He had everything set to ensure we got to really enjoy the most incredible sites and experiences. Go with confidence knowing he is knowledgeable, takes you to the best spots, and does everything possible to make sure you have a thoroughly good time. We will use him again when in Japan.
This was a wonderful day trip, very well organized. Abdul is a very knowledgeable and kind person, punctual and flexible. All the items described are definitely worth visiting. Plenty of free time to explore on our own as well. We were fortunate to book this trip on a short notice and definitely recommend it.
Although Fuji was hiding behind clouds, we very much liked that tour. It is a pleasant change to leave the city for one day, enjoy the fresh air, the green mountains, the boat trip on the lake. Thanks to our guide Abdul for that wonderful day.
On the plus side, we got to visit Hakone and explore the area. On the negative side, the person assigned to us was a driver only and didn't know anything about the Hakone area. He had been in Japan for only 2 years and didn't speak or read Japanese very well. He had never actually attended any of the locations or tours and so didn't even know what to expect at each spot. He was a very poor driver, with lots of unnecessary rapid accelerations and decelerations, and several near accidents. We didn't get to see everything on the itinerary, as the itinerary itself is based on perfect conditions with no traffic and no lines. In reality, we had to queue to buy tickets, queue for lunch, queue for the boat, queue for the ropeway, queue for pictures at the shrine, etc. Then we were told we had to leave early because traffic was bad and it would take longer than originally planned to get back. Very disappointing all the way around.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize for any disappointment you experienced during your Hakone and Mt. Fuji day trip. We would like to clarify that this tour is not a guided tour, which means a guide does not accompany you throughout the day. Instead, it is a private vehicle service with an English-speaking driver who assists you with navigation and basic communication. The driver is not a guide and may not have in-depth knowledge of every site’s history or details. It is also important to note that speaking or writing Japanese is not a requirement for this service, as the driver’s role is to facilitate transportation in English. The itinerary covers several popular tourist spots, and as is common with such tours, queues at ticket counters, lunch spots, and attractions are expected, especially during peak times. These delays are unfortunately beyond the control of the tour and driver. We are sorry to hear about your experience with the driver’s driving and language proficiency. We will review this matter internally to improve our service quality. Safety and customer satisfaction are our top priorities, and your feedback helps us in our ongoing efforts to enhance the experience. Thank you again for your valuable comments. We hope you might give us another opportunity to provide a better experience in the future. Best regards,
Private tour to Hakone is very good. We got to see what we want to see, ride the Ropeway, the Pirate Cruise Boat, Picasso Open Air Museum, and other beautiful places, and able to take pictures and videos of them. It’s very satisfying. The driver, Mac is very professional, courteous, nice and drives safely that no matter how curvy, narrow, difficult some roads along the way, we all feel safe and able to take a nap quietly. He can also answer the questions we had in mind. We are very thankful to him and to Viator for our wonderful tour experience and ultimately gave us a pleasant and beautiful short vacation in Japan. God may bless this company.
This was a pretty full day. 1.5 hours drive in each direction, but beautiful scenery in every direction. Abdul was an excellent driver/guide and took some great photos for us. I highly recommend him.
Mt Fuji and Hakone district is an amazing experience by itself which our guide, Ali, with a perfectly clean car and travel equipment and especially with his great manners, knowledge, humor and patience made it unforgettable. Long lasting memories are here to stay !
