Everything with the tour was good, and the sites you see are beautiful! Phong was a good guide; he explained information about Ha Long Bay and Hanoi, and was always clear about logistics (like where we were going and how long it would take to get there). The lunch and snacks provided were delicious. Some of the logistics were unclear from the Viator listing and could have been communicated a little better ahead of time, but the organizers respond very quickly on Whatsapp to all of the questions I had so this wasn’t a problem.
I met the guide, Tom, at the marina when the bus group arrived. No issues with Tom or the staff on the boat. The food was decent and there were nice activities throughout the afternoon. It is so sad watching black waste water pouring out of all of the boats and into the bay, probably full of engine oil and who knows what else. The water in the bay is dark and murky from all of the pollutants, including the swimming area where we stopped. Humans are killing the planet, unfortunately. The trip itself was nice and the mountains were beautiful.
We had a great day! Phong was a fantastic tour guide. The food on board the boat was nice, and the boat was really comfortable! Would recommend!
The trip was very good and everything was planned very well. Also our tour guide KEN was very professional and told us everything at best level also he was very friendly with everyone
Decent vegetarian food and our guide Phong was friendly and interesting. It's a good tour for budget travellers who are looking to explore Ha Long Bay in a fun and intense way. Also great for meeting new people. The views were misty, but the activities more than made up for it.
This excursion surpassed our expectations! First, we were impressed with the lunch on our boat ride. We expected sandwiches but, instead, got a 7-8 course lunch including several salads, grilled fish, soup, chicken stir fry and more…so yummy! The caves were impressive, kayaking into the bay was beautiful, and the 400 steps up to the lookout was a must-see! Our 71 year old friend was reluctant to climb the steps but was so glad that he did! We highly recommend this Halong Bay tour!
The views were lovely. The cruise was nice but I wish there were more seats on the upper deck for everyone. It was also hard to understand the tour guide’s English.
The cruise itself was great – the boat was nice and clean, the lunch was plentiful (there were a lot of seafood options like shrimp, squid, clams), but there was also chicken, white fish, rice, salad, fruit etc. I believe you could also order a vegetarian option. Drinks are extra. There was also a small snack on the way back (biscuits, fruit and fried potato tots) with a choice of tea or wine. The stops on the cruise were well-organised and timed; we enjoyed our ‘bamboo’ boat trip around the bay (there is an option to take a kayak or to book a speed boat, if memory serves it was about VND200,000 per person), and the caves were stunning. The 400 step trek to the top is somewhat worth it – the view is nice, but the top is very busy and way down can be slippery. What lets it down is the transport – if you happen to be the last people to be picked up (also last to drop off…), be prepared to be crammed at the back of the bus for the 2.5-3h journey there and back. The trip could really be improved by either booking less people in or using a sleeper bus. The stop on the way there was at a pearl shop – while interesting to see the process, not sure how many people buy $4000 necklaces during the trip. The stop on the way back at the sculpture shop (also some food available) was unnecessarily long (about 30 min) and resulted in late return to the city (I wouldn’t recommend booking any transfers etc., based on the predicted return time). On a bright sight, if you’re looking to buy a 200kg marble statue, you can have it shipped to the UK for as little as £350...
Ha Long bay is wonderful! Moreover, Brian was the most amazing tour guide ever. Not only he explained us the historical and cultural background of the places we visited, but he was also very friendly and caring, everything was very well-organised! We did many activities (hiking, swimming, kayaking, bamboo boat, dancing) and the food on the boat was great. Definitely recommending the experience itself and Brian as a tour guide
Was a very cool experience. They made it very easy to enjoy. Kayaking was a very cool experience, and the guide was very informative.
