Itinerary
Start your tour from meetingpoint in Amsterdam: Tour Company, Stationsplein 4, 1012 AB Amsterdam . Our meeting point is only a 1-minute walk from the Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at Amsterdam Central, exit through the Stations-side (city side) main entrance onto Stationsplein. You’ll see our location at Stationsplein 4, in the white Stromma building, just a short walk across the square towards the city center. We recommend using Google Maps for the most accurate directions
The windmill village Zaanse Schans is an open air museum that houses a collection of working windmills, wooden houses, barns and shops dating back to the 18th and 19th Century. All these buildings were brought here from 1961 on, bringing back to life this most prosperous period of the Zaan region.
Learn how Dutch cheese is being made in a farm and of course taste some real Dutch farmer cheese!
You will visit the clog museum annex wooden shoemaker shop, here you will watch traditional craftsmen at work, making clogs and other artefacts
If selected, the tour includes an open departure ticket for the popular Amsterdam Canal Cruise. The ticket is provided during tour check-in. The canal cruise is operated by Stromma, with departure locations at Damrak and Central Station. The canal cruise starts in the heart of Amsterdam near Central Station. Routes vary depending on canal traffic, but you will see the UNESCO-listed 17th-century canals, including the Herengracht, Keizersgracht, and Prinsengracht, along with the city’s iconic architecture. The cruise includes an audio guide in 19 languages and commentary from the captain.

Great half day tour outside of the city. Great mix of guided tour and free time, which is my preference. Several little shops and food options, better than expected. Not far drive from city centre. It wasn’t entirely clear for meeting spot to depart and there was a wall to the bus which could be a challenge for those with limited mobility. I opted for canal cruise addition which was very close to departure point for bus tour and the canal cruise was great.
I think it was a little overpriced and a very commercial, seemingly purpose built village. There was a lot of free time and the restaurant was very expensive, eg eur 10 for a glass of wine
It was good but a little rushed. Would have loved about 30 more minutes in Zaans. Our tour guide was wonderful. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Very good. We'll worth it. Lovely quaint Dutch town. Great guide, very knowledgeable. Bus driver and journey excellent
I recently went on the Zaanse Schans tour, and both our guide and driver happened to be called Rob! Our guide, Rob, was absolutely fantastic – friendly, patient, and incredibly accommodating, especially towards guests who were unable to walk quickly. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does. He made the tour both fun and informative, and his genuine, gentlemanly nature made a great impression on everyone. He was a true legend, and I would happily book another tour with both Rob and the company in the future. Rob, our driver, was excellent too. He drove safely and professionally, and his coach was exceptionally clean and tidy. He was also friendly and welcoming, which helped make the whole experience even more enjoyable. A brilliant day out and highly recommended!
Very good tour, tried lots of cheeses, learned some interesting stuff. The village was very nice and the sheep were friendly!
Great tour that we booked sort of last minute, our guide was helpful with local information and pointed out areas of interest. The village is lovely and quaint, the cheese and treats delicious.
Nobody was at the tour desk, couldn’t find anyone to help, did not get the tour I booked. Requested a refund and was denied.
The group was too large and made visiting the Zaans difficult but we loved the upgrade to Vollendam! Also recommend the canal cruise.
Great tour guide. Loved all 3 stops. Going to the fishing village area was wonderful. Loved all the shops and cafe’s
