Good trip, the guide was very welcoming and had a wealth of knowledge of the historic area of Portsmouth.
Steve certainly knows his stuff. I have lived in Portsmouth all my life and he definitely enlighten me of lots of details I never knew.
Thank you Steve your snapshot tour today, with great historical facts and interesting stories. We even now know why West Ham are called "The Hammers! A very intractive experience and Cosmo (the dog) enjoyed your dog biscuits too. Really appreciate your donating so much to Cancer Research and am sure you'll smash your current figure of nearly £6000 already. Whilst the tour is a donation "cost", it was sad to see that some do consider it a free experience, but we really appreciated your fun tour and cause.
Really enjoyed our tour of Old Portsmouth, very informative, even though we had a little walk around ourselves, there was so much that was pointed out to us that we had missed, tour runs for 90 minutes but you can leave early. Lots to see and learn about.
So pleased we booked this tour. Steve is an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and informative. Audience aware and good company. The pictorial references were much appreciated too. Highly recommend - whether you’re local to Pompey or a visitor. Thank you!😊
I absolutely loved this tour. It was a delight from start to finish. Steve kept us enthralled with his knowledge about the history of Portsmouth, his interesting and entertaining stories, facts and anecdotes, and kept us laughing with his great sense of humour and jokes. I learned so much about the city I have lived in for 10 years and love. I am recommending this tour to everyone I know, and also to everyone I don't!
Fabulous walking tour by a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Steve was able to tailor the tour to our interests and knowledge and kept us entertained for 90 minutes with the stories and characters of old Portsmouth. Can thoroughly recommend. Thanks for a super tour!
I had booked a French audio guide, but we received a translated booklet; we still managed to understand each other more or less! Our guide was great.
We were looking forward to our walking tour of Historic Portsmouth and weren’t disappointed. We had a lovely sunny day to enjoy the time we spent out sightseeing and the tour itself takes about an hour and a half covering roughly 2 miles. Steve was welcoming, engaging, amiable, funny and passionate. As an ex Navy member myself I thought I might know something of Pompey and that the day would serve as a reminder of what had been, past and more recent. How wrong I was. The interesting sights, facts, figures and wows were constant and at the end of the tour I felt that we had had a fantastic lesson in history. Fully recommended to anyone who has the slightest interest in history and all things Naval.
I thoroughly recommend this walking tour. Steve is very knowledgeable, engaging and entertaining, pointing out things that we would not have seen otherwise. His anecdotes kept us amused whilst we learnt some interesting facts about Portsmouth’s history. To know that we were also helping to support a very worthwhile charity was the icing on the cake.
