Itinerary

Pass by

The tour starts from Shinjuku, a big city! From here, you will take the train and depart for a wonderful cultural and nature experience!

10 min

After getting off the train at this station, the next step is to take the cable car! Experience the cable car that climbs the steepest slope in Japan.

Admission included20 min

This cable car is famous for its especially safe design. As you listen to your guide, try to imagine the nature of the Mt. Takao you are about to visit.

20 min

As soon as you get off the cable car, you will see a cedar with distinctive roots. The cedar is the symbolic tree of Mt. This cedar, of course, has its own impressive story.

30 min

Walking further down the road, you will see a wooden gate. From this gate onward, you are in the precincts of the temple. The atmosphere is ethereal.

20 min

The road to the temple is lined with large cedar trees. These were paid by the people who worship the temple on Mt. Takao as a thank-you to the gods and Buddha enshrined there. What do you think of this unique atmosphere of faith and nature?

20 min

From the gate of the magnificent structure, you will find yourself in the central area of the temple. Four statues of Buddhist guardian deities line the gate, guarding the deities enshrined there.

Admission included90 min

The temple on Mt. Takao is called “Yakuoin” and has one of the longest histories in Kanto (over 1,000 years). It has a history of being worshipped by many people, including warriors, and is said to offer blessings such as support in victory and happiness. The bronze statue of a winged demon-like figure in the precincts of the temple is called “Tengu,” and is believed to be a retainer of the gods and Buddha of Yakuoin.

60 min

Mt. Takao has easy walking trails and is known as a mountain where even those with limited physical strength can enjoy hiking in nature. This tour also includes a short walk from the temple to the top of Mt. Takao. Takao has retained its dense natural environment due to the protection of the trees within its precincts by the temple.

40 min

Finally, we are at the summit of Mt. Please take a look! The urban landscape of Tokyo and Yokohama spreads out before us! And in front of us is Mt! It is worth signing up for this tour just to see this spectacular view!

Admission included40 min

From Mt. Takao, take the cable car and train back to Shinjuku.

You answered a lot of our questions, gave your personal feedback about past and present Japan and the finishing touch was treating us for ice cream.
