Guided Canoe Adventure with Picnic Lunch in Waterland from Amsterdam

The guided canoe tour with Majel was just great! From the beginning she was super friendly, warm and competent – you can immediately tell how much she loves nature and her enthusiasm is really infectious. The tour itself led through a breathtakingly beautiful landscape – crystal clear waters, lush greenery, bird voices and small discoveries everywhere on the shore. You come to rest wonderfully and feel very close to nature. A real highlight was the shared food – prepared with a lot of love, regional and really delicious! Everything was just right: the atmosphere, the conversations with the nice American passengers and Majel and the feeling of being in the middle of the countryside. Thanks dear Majel for this great day – we will definitely be back! 🌿🛶

Finding Majel at the station was easy, and she took care of all the logistics from there. We started with a quick orientation and history lesson over coffees before getting into the canoes. She provided dry bags and access to a clean restroom. The picnic was delightful with plenty of variety so everyone could pick what looked good to them and we all ate our fill. We lucked out with a beautiful day and a great group of fellow tourers. Getting out of the city for a bit was the perfect deep breath after a couple days of hustle and bustle. A highlight of the trip!

One of the absolute best experiences on our Netherlands trip. Majel is a terrific canoe and nature guide. She taught us SO many interesting things about the Waterland area. Great lunch as well. Highly recommend doing this to get away from the busy city. So glad we did this.

Excellent day outside Amsterdam amongst the canals. Majel was an outstanding host and guide, knowledgeable about the environment and history of the area. Especially interesting to stand on the peatland and observe how soft and spongy they are. Highly recommended

Super nice canoe tour made with Majel, in a beautiful area just above Amsterdam. Very nice experience, and lots of explanations about the area. And another relaxed picnic. Explanations for it were clear and straightforward. If there is unexpected rain, capes are available. I would love to come back for another great experience. Picnic lunch was extensive and delicious.

We did the 5 hour tour with our two 8 year olds last week. This trip was a perfect day outing from Amsterdam, Marie is a knowledgeable guide, and knows the wetlands well. Pace was relaxed, and the kids even got to go swimming. She sites the wetlands well, and points out both plant and animal life, as well as the constant tradeoffs and management decisions involved in maintaining an area such as this in a densely populated area such as the Netherlands. Interesting from both a natural and a social perspective, for both kids and grownups. A great day out!

Beautiful, peaceful wetlands to explore. The owner is so knowledgeable of the area and welcoming. Lunch was local foods and fantastic! Great experience!

We were quite pleasantly surprised with the tour. We received a very warm welcome from the host, together with a nice introduction for the day ahead! The facilities and quality of boats were great! Once we started the trip, we were well equipped and guided through the waterlands in the North of the Netherlands. The host taught us a lot about the area, the history thereof, a lot of fun facts and interesting things to realise. The picnic was an amazing experience! She really pulled out all the stops and made it an amazing experience. There was a large variety of food and it was very delicious! I would do this experience again, because it was a phenomenal experience. Top notch host and a great thrill-seeking, adventurous and intimate experience.
