Itinerary
This half day tour starts either in the morning or in the afternoon. We will pick you up from your hotel in Bangkok and guided by your professional guide, transfer to the entrance of the Grand Palace in the old part of the capital. Situated close to the Chao Phraya, Bangkok’s River of Kings, the Grand Palace occupies nearly one square mile. The former royal residence of the Chakri Kings, the palace is the perfect example of an ancient Siamese court. Built in 1782 by King Rama I, it was the centre of power for more than 150 years. Today, the palace is Bangkok's major landmark and most popular tourist attraction and is often used for the occasional ceremony. The interiors of most of the buildings in the Grand Palace are closed to the public Wat Phra Kaew adjoins the Grand Palace in a common compound and is the home of the country's most famous Buddha statue (also known as the Emerald Buddha). This important figure has a long and interesting history that is tied to the royal family and once resided in nearby Wat Arun. It is relatively small (about 66 centimetres) and is situated in a high position in the Wat to signify its important status in the Thai kingdom. Dating back to 1782 (when Bangkok was founded), the entire compound consists of over 100 brightly coloured buildings, golden spires and glittering mosaics. Together, these two sites form what many consider the greatest spectacle for visitors to Bangkok. After this visit, we drive you back to your hotel in Bangkok.

Hej! Tak for at vælge Asian Trails!
The palace sums up the Kings of Thailand's taste through out their rule, it has many Court yards with statues of Budda's on display and ornamental gateways at each entrance, there are waterfalls that stand alone in several locations locations. The main attraction is the Gold lying Budda which is very popular and shoes must be covered. There are a variety of colourful stucca's as well well as a temple on the site. If you are a single traveller a tour is your best option as the whole complex will be explained. There are refreshments available and souvenirs, best time to visit early morning for solo visitor or late in afternoon when heat of the day has passed.
Hello Terence! Thank you for this detailed description! The Grand Palace with its courtyards, Buddhas and ornaments is indeed striking. Excellent advice on timing to avoid the heat! And you're absolutely right, with a guide it all makes sense to understand the history of Thailand's kings. Thanks for choosing Asian Trails!
It's a real masterpiece! Too bad that the ocean crowds that visit it do not allow you to fully appreciate the place. Queues to enter, queues to see... too bad. I had already visited it 25 years ago and I kept a beautiful memory of serenity and majesty, now not anymore. That's too bad.
Ciao!
Punctual pickup, interesting tour, knowledgeable tour guide! Even if there are many tourists on site, a worthwhile tour!

One of the must-see options of Bangock, beautiful buildings and statues. A lot of information and if you have little time, you need a great guide to guide you and pass the essence of the palace's history.
The Grand Palace Bangkok is a must see if your visiting Bangkok. We had a very knowledge guide who shared her vast amount of knowledge with us. Highlight of our stay in Bangkok . Awe inspiring the detail, history connected to the grand palace design both in its exterior and interior appearance is breathtaking. The array of stones and the colours arranged adorning and laid carefully into the architecture and the statues which are abundant throughout the grounds are beautiful in appearance. The grounds also are well cared for and maintained throughout the site. Best time of day to visit is early am as it gets very hot and extremely busy if you go later. We booked on an individual tour and visited early in the morning just prior to the rush of the larger group tours arrived.
Hello! Thank you for this detailed description! Our guide will be delighted to read your compliments about her knowledge. You made the right choice with that early morning private tour, it really avoids the crowds! Those architectural details with stones and colors are indeed striking. Excellent advice for future visitors! Thanks for choosing Asian Trails!
Wonderful palace, Tanachai Guide very helpful, provided so much information and historical data about the place. Excellent experience
Ciao Marisa! Grazie! Tanachai sarà felice di leggere i vostri complimenti!
An impressive place. There are probably not many tourists who visit Bangkok without stopping by here. This is the reason why the rating is not 5 stars. 20,000 visitors a day puts a lot of pressure. It can be stressful to move around in 38 degree heat in such a throng of people.
visited on a beautiful sunny day, the royal palace in Bangkok is a marvel, like a treasure chest that opens revealing its splendid treasures. full of history, culture, temples, shrines, spirituality and richly decorated with statues depicting the protective spirits and angels of Buddhist culture. very vast, it takes a good half day to visit it properly.
Beautiful place to visit. The map and audio guide leave a little to be desired but I would thoroughly recommend a visit.
