Goshuin Collecting & Garden Walk in Local Tokyo

Description
Let’s step off the beaten path! Would you like to explore and collect goshuin stamps with a local guide who grew up in Tokyo? All the destinations we’ll visit are less crowded than Tokyo’s major historical sites, but just as beautiful. You’ll learn the history of each temple and shrine, experience Japanese culture, and enjoy the authentic local vibes. This tour also includes a visit to a beautiful and peaceful Japanese garden. If you prefer, you can choose to focus only on collecting goshuin stamps — but the price remains the same. Small group tour (max 6–7 guests): Since we visit local neighborhoods and small shrines, this tour is limited to a maximum of 6–7 guests for a comfortable and personal experience. Your guide is a Tokyo native who speaks English and a little Spanish.

This was a great tour! Great way to experience Japan and their shrines and temples. I learned a lot and it was a great morning.
The tour was absolutely wonderful. I learned so much about the temples and shrines. The guide was so knowledgeable and we also had really good conversations about spirituality and culture. I saw temples and shrines I might not otherwise have seen. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you want a better appreciation for goshuin.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! I had such a great time walking around Koto City with you and sharing the history and culture behind goshuin, temples, and shrines. Our conversations about spirituality and culture were one of my favorite parts of the tour as well! I’m so happy that you enjoyed exploring a quieter side of Tokyo and discovering places that many tourists never get to see. Thank you again for joining my tour. I hope your goshuin book will always remind you of your time in Japan. 😊⛩️✨
I did the tour and mini Japanese lesson with Masami. It was a phenomenal experience! Masami is very kind, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the goshuin experience. I am usually a shy person but I think we chatted almost the entire tour - from kami to historical roots and small japanese lessons throughout, each stop was meaningful and the goshuin felt special. Now I feel ready and very excited to fill my goshuin book and explore the many shrines and temples across Tokyo for many trips to come! Masami, yabai! Goshuin, yabai! Experience, yabai! 🦊
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review. I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed both the goshuin tour and the mini Japanese lesson! I had such a wonderful time talking with you as well. Please keep enjoying your Japanese studies — I’m rooting for you! 😊 And when you come back to Japan, I hope you’ll continue collecting many more goshuin and exploring new shrines and temples. Thank you again for joining my tour! 🦊✨Yabai!
Goshuin collecting is a unique experience I could only find on Viator. Masami exceeded my expectations. I learned so much about Japanese shrines and temples. Yummy snacks are included plus a visit to a beautiful Japanese garden. After Masami helped me map out my next adventure to Alisa on the subway. Highly recommended!!
Hi Margaret! Thank you so much for your warm review 😊 I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about Japanese shrines, temples, and goshuin culture! It was a pleasure spending time with you, and I’m glad I could help with your next adventure as well ✨ I hope you enjoy many more wonderful experiences in Japan! Thank you again for joining my tour 😊
This Goshuin tour with Masami has been one of the most wonderful things we’ve done. Masami was so kind, friendly and generous with her knowledge and culture, allowing us to fully appreciate and share in the religious experience of both Buddhist and Shinto religions. It’s lovely to understand about Goshuin and how to respectfully ask for it. We highly recommend this tour for anyone who would like to learn about Japanese culture, however the time spent with Masami was the highlight for us. She was sensational!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I’m honestly speechless and so touched. It was such a pleasure spending time with you, and I’m very happy you enjoyed learning about Goshuin, Shinto, and Buddhism. Your kind words mean the world to me. I hope you had an amazing time in Japan and come back again someday!
I went with Masami who took me to many temples and shrines to get Goshuins that I would've otherwise missed! The places were incredibly beautiful, and we even had time to go to a beautiful local Japanese Garden. I went home with some incredible memories and a book full of Goshuin! I am very grateful for Masami for having this tour!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I’m truly happy to hear that you enjoyed visiting the temples, shrines, and the local Japanese garden together. It was my pleasure to guide you to places you might not have found on your own. I’m also very glad that you went home with beautiful memories and a book full of Goshuin — that makes me so happy! Thank you again for joining my tour. I hope our paths cross again on your next visit to Tokyo!
I had a wonderful time on this tour. I just recently started collecting goshuin, and after this tour I felt more comfortable with temple and shrine etiquette and requesting goshuin. Ma-chan was super friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. We visited several temples and shrines, including many I never would have found on my own. Ma-chan walked me through the purification ritual, praying, and obtaining goshuin, and she shared interesting stories about the shrines and temples’ histories. She also made me her own personal goshuin! The weather was very hot and sunny, and Ma-chan ensured I had a UV umbrella and took frequent breaks to prevent any heat illness. Thanks, Ma-chan, for a great tour, even in the intense heat. :-)
Sorry for the late reply, and huge thanks for your awesome review! I’m super happy you had a great time collecting goshuin and learning the rituals together. It was a blast showing you around, and I’m glad the UV umbrella and breaks kept you cool in that crazy summer heat. Hope your goshuin book keeps filling up with more epic memories—come back anytime!:)))
What a fantastic experience! I visited shrines and temples that I would have never seen on my own. I learned so much and filled up my passport book.
Hi Matthew, Thank you so much for your wonderful review — and I’m truly sorry for my late reply! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour and got to visit shrines and temples that are usually hard to find on your own. It means a lot to me that you filled up your Goshuin book and learned something new along the way. Your message really made my day. I hope you’ll come back to Japan again someday — there are still so many beautiful places waiting for you! Warmest wishes from Tokyo ☺️ Masami
I had a lot of fun on this tour. You get to see beautiful locations and understand more about Japanese culture thanks to Masami-san's charming display of knowledge. These are all less known shrines, so it's quiet, far from the crowds of Senso-ji and the like. Some are small, some majestic, all have plenty of stories to tell. I am a goshuin (handwritten shrine stamps) enthusiast, so this was extra interesting. These stamps are tangible memories of your trip and they look so good gathered together in the booklet. Thank you Masami-san!
Thank you again for joining my tour! I was truly touched by your passion for goshuin and made me to look for more stamps!! Arigatou gozaimashita:))
