Golden Circle is the most popular day tour route from Reykjavik. It traverses spectacular landscapes and includes three Iceland's iconic destinations: Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir national park.
Strokkur is the little brother or the famous Geysir which not active anymore. Strokkur though is still very active blowing water up into the air every 7 to 10 minutes. We'll usually stop for lunch at Geysir for about 40 min At this stop can you also purchase food.
Gullfoss is a waterfall of the White River Hvítá. It has two steps of 11 and 21 meters and there are pulling more 100 m3 water through it at a second.
The Thingvellir are both historically and geologically a important location. Here was the first icelandic parliament founded in the late 900s and this is also the a visible division between the eurasian and the north american continental plates.
Kerið is an iconic volcanic crater of 55 meters depth.

I have wanted to see these sights since studying them in school almost 20 years ago and my expectations were exceeded. Tómas, our fantastic tour guide, was entertaining as well as informative, providing lots of information about the history of the area and Icelandic culture. He also gave tips on places to see for those who were planning on travelling the Ring Road.
Visited multiple natural wonders, each better than the rest in succession: Thingvellir National Park (continental divide boundary wall), Gullfoss Waterfall (in all of its power and majesty), Geysir and Strokar geysers (blew up right on time), and his Kerid crater lake. Guide Chow from China from Arctic Adventures. His descriptions were scant. Would have appreciated more narration. Accent made it hard to understand him. He was friendly and pleasant and took our family photos on multiple occasions. The role was difficult for him as he served as both tour guide and bus driver. Very safe driving, though. Disappointed that I did not get the chance to walk across the bridge dividing the North American and European plates. Got the highlights of the Golden Circle. Expected more and better from our tour guide. That's why I give this a four rather than a five.
It was doing well until the rain came. Worst of all, our bus broke down and got delayed for 3 hours!
We are sorry the vehicle issue caused such a long delay and affected the rest of your day. Unexpected mechanical problems can happen, but we understand that waiting for a replacement was frustrating. Our team’s priority is to continue the tour safely once suitable transport is available. We regret that the disruption overshadowed what had otherwise been an enjoyable day.
Sven was fantastic. Must do in Iceland!
Having done this tour previously a few years ago, I knew what to expect of the sights. They're great. The Golden Circle is awesome and a must-see. The reason for the 3 stars is the logistical nightmare we had to sit through at the beginning of the tour. We were picked up on time, but then sat around for 30 minutes only to be told we would need to go to a bus depot to transfer to a different bus. No reason was given for the transfer. We arrive at the bus depot and transfer to a different bus that may have had 2-3 rows more seats. This was a BIG bus and we were FULL. My previous Golden Circle experience was a smaller bus that wasn't full. This was a mess. After boarding the new bus, we sat around for 30 MORE minutes with no reason given as to why. We finally get going and this new bus is HOT. Extremely hot to the point where everyone is frustrated. We finally arrive at the first Golden Circle point and they say they're working on the heat. This bus remained incredibly warm and uncomfortable the entire day to the point where passengers were sweating after removing every layer of clothing possible. It was miserable and took away from the experience. This is the main reason for the 3 stars. The Golden Circle information from the guide was fine and we made it to all the sights, but his lack of communication with guests on the tour at the beginning was unfortunate. I'd recommend keeping your fingers crossed for a better bus or booking a smaller bus or smaller group for this experience.
Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the Golden Circle sights, but we are sorry the vehicle change, waiting time and heating issue affected your day. Standard coach departures can carry up to 61 guests, while our small-group tours have a maximum of 19. We regret that the onboard communication and comfort fell below expectations.
A good experience.for the price. I just wish we had more time at each places. But overall we enjoyed the tour, certainly beat driving on your own.
Beautiful experience in contact with nature, one admires the power and greatness of Creation. 😍 Even though our guide Saga was very good in English Highly recommended ❤️❤️
We enjoyed the tour and the guide, but it is better to let more time in Gulfoss waterfall. 40 minutes is too short.
Beautiful tour through the impressive landscape of Iceland.
Very nice tour with very good guidance
