Itinerary
Get into the history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park, witness the powerful beauty of a multi-tiered waterfall at Gullfoss and walk among bubbling geothermal pools at Geysir Geothermal Area.
Learn about some of the thrilling and somewhat gruesome history of Iceland at Thingvellir National Park. It’s significance is so great that it is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll walk the grounds where Icelandic democracy began and visit sites where Viking-era justice was carried out including the Drowning Pool and the Gallows Rock. Thingvellir is also the place where two tectonic plates are gradually separating creating a gorgeous landscape of steep cliffs and broad fields featuring Thingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.
The Great Geysir, the first of its name, resides in Haukadalur in the Geysir Geothermal Area. The entire area is bubbling with geothermal activity from steam vents to boiling mud pits and the real stars of the geothermal show, the geysers. All other geysers, the world over, are named for Geysir.
While the Great Geysir erupts only occasionally these days, the last time being in 2016, nearby geyser Strokkur erupts regularly delighting onlookers by shooting hot water high into the air every few minutes.
The most popular waterfall in Iceland is, without a doubt, Gullfoss (the golden falls). And that is saying quite a lot in a country that is home to thousands of waterfalls. Gullfoss is also considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in Iceland and it is certainly one of the largest. Hearing the roar of the Hvita River as it plunges 32 meters over two tiers into the gorge below is exhilarating. On sunny days, rainbows are abundant in the mist rising from the falls and there are several paths available around the waterfall including one leading down to its bottom so come equipped with your raincoat and have your camera at the ready.

It was a fulll day with an absolutely fabulous itinerary. The scenery is stunning. We saw an unbelievable waterfall, and geysers. We saw as we drove along the highway sheep and horses. Our guide Hershey and driver Martti were a great combination. Hershey was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and Martti was a great driver. My wife and I wholeheartedly recommend this excursion to all that need to pack in much in a short time.
We waited for the bus almost 50 minutes just to hear from the guide in the bus that we were not in the list So we didn't take the trip today. They made a mistake and so tomorrow we are going for the trip. I hope this mistake won't happened again
Very knowledgeable guide. Fascinating areas to visit. The scenery on the coach trip was interesting. Very safe and capable driver. Would recommend this tour.
This was a fantastic tour and I would totally do it again! First, finding the bus for pick up was easy. Next, the stop at the Geysir was fun but the fish soup at the restaurant inside was AMAZING!! I'm a foodie. Going to Gollfoss was breathtaking because you could get so close to it. The story of Gestastofa was wild and part of me was like "please don't let any tectonic plates move to the point I can feel it while we're here." Overall, this was a great trip. I told my husband we had the best vacation in Iceland (after New Zealand because you can't beat Hobbiton)
Loved this tour! Our tour guide, Gudjon Jes was awesome. He has so much knowledge and told us so many facts about the country. Loved the Geysir and the Waterfall so much. Unfortunately it was raining when we got to the national park. Our bus driver, Barrek, drove very safely and we were very comfortable on the bus.
Be prepared for rain /cold /weather conditions change quickly check your tour pickup different bus turned up 👎☹️
Told our noon pick up was at our hotel ( I have the receipt to prove it.). The hotel told us the pick up was at bus stop #9. We called Gray line. They agreed. No drop off pick up bus for our specific tour arrived. Called Gray line again. Said their GPS was there at 12:10. It was not! With only one day in Reykjavík our afternoon tour was ruined. We are currently asking for a refund. Very disappointed.
Wonderful, scenic and cultural presentation of beautiful country. The best shopping and food that we experienced on the cruise as well.
Had a great experience! An awesome way to travel and see some of Icelands’s amazing beauty. Our tour guide, Dori, did a fantastic job and we learned so much interesting information about Iceland!
Long bus ride - but for people who have never been to Iceland before, and in beautiful weather this was an enjoyable part of the trip. The scenery and the waterfall were wonderful and the tour guide was excellent explaining. Wish we had more time to walk around the Thingfellir area.
