Very friendly crew, good atmosphere, good vibes. We had a perfect day! We could not see the dolphins but we stop to swim into the sea and the water was perfect

Great Access to Gibraltar

It is a bus ride, mostly, in a decent vehicle. They did an 'experiment' with us, stopping at a small town on the way. We got off, and followed the guide to a quaint old town square a short walk away. But we only had about 15 minutes there, no stores were yet open, and the guide left us on our own to get back to the bus. Awkward! But they delivered us to Gibraltar in a timely manner and got us efficiently through customs of Spain and Gibraltar, both in and out.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your experience! 😊 We’re glad to hear that the transport to Gibraltar was smooth and efficient, and that you were able to get through customs without issues 🚍✨ We understand that the brief stop in the small town felt awkward, especially with only 15 minutes to explore and stores not yet open. Your feedback is very valuable and helps us improve timing and guidance at stops to ensure a smoother experience for future travelers. We’re pleased that, overall, the journey was timely and organized. Thank you for sharing your thoughts — it helps us enhance our tours for everyone visiting Andalucía and Gibraltar 🌿

Make your day easier by joining this tour

We considered going to Gibraltar on our own and finally decided to join a tour from Malaga instead - boy are we happy we chose the tour! There are a choice of pickup/dropoff sites and the bus takes you directly to the border crossing. Our guide, Carlos, explained the whole process prior to arrival. He also provided a map and helpful hints for getting around Gibraltar. You have plenty of time to walk main street and do the dolphin tour, or the Rock tour, but not both. We joined the tour that included St. Michael's Cave and the Rock tour. We also saw monkeys up on the rock. Having never been to Gibraltar before it would have been difficult to get around so easily. If you have never been before, Gibraltar is bigger than you think, it's not as walkable as you think and you'll be glad you had the help of the tour guide at the end. I highly recommend this tour.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your detailed review! 😊 We’re thrilled to hear that choosing the tour from Málaga to Gibraltar made your visit so smooth and enjoyable 🌞🚍 It’s wonderful that Carlos guided you through the border process, provided a map, and shared helpful tips, making it easy to navigate Gibraltar even as a first-time visitor. From seeing St. Michael’s Cave and taking the Rock tour to spotting the monkeys, it sounds like you experienced some of the best highlights Gibraltar has to offer 🐒🗺️ We’re glad the timing and guidance allowed you to make the most of your day, and your recommendation means a lot to us! We hope to welcome you again soon for another unforgettable adventure with Visitanddo.com exploring more of Andalucía 🌿✨

Very complete visit.

In our case, we did not take the tour, but rather 5 hours of free time. I must say that since the cable car is not operating due to renovation work (which will last until 2027), the best way to ascend the rock is with a tour (bus, car); however, these only take you up to a certain point, and you avoid half of the hike. Nevertheless, the sections to reach the points of interest are completed on foot, and I tell you that as an athlete, I did not expect those steep slopes, stairs, and rocks. This may pose a problem for some people who might believe they are saving physical effort. Returning to what was said, we did not take the tour since only 2 of all the things to see at the top were visible, and it was the best decision we could make, especially since I was with my mother, who is already somewhat older for those slopes and stairs. We did have time to see everything else in Gibraltar, about 25 things that I noted, and a few more; we did many things, and we reached the end of the rock, which is beautiful (those on the tour miss that and the dolphin tour). We were able to walk the approximately 7 km of the rock along the length/final; still, I did have time to climb the rock on foot, see the monkeys, and cross the hanging bridge. I would have seen even all or almost all of the rock (nature reserve) if I had gone alone, but since my mother stayed on a terrace having a drink and I was afraid of missing the bus, I did not want to continue. We had time to eat in a square 8 minutes walking to the bus station. It is a pity that the 3 types of tours end at 3:30 PM, as with 2 more hours, I would have seen all of Gibraltar. Still, I do not mind, since on another trip to Cádiz, Torremolinos, or Málaga, I will take another tour to fully see Gibraltar and its rock. As I was saying, it is a pity that the pickup time is at 3:30 PM because that prevents seeing all of Gibraltar in a single day, requiring 2 days/tours. In this case, I find it more worthwhile to go by car and stay for the maximum allowed time to see everything. You can even leave the car at the border or go through customs, although parking in Gibraltar is very complicated, especially in many areas. I hope that my comment will be useful for many people to know, decide, and take things into account. Above all, the slopes, paths, and stone stairs of the rock are quite tough, especially in hot weather; even I, being so athletic and used to trails, did not expect it to be so extremely hard, since the rock is not like a normal mountain that grows progressively, but rather it is a rock, a large vertical rocky area, which is what makes those paths and stairs so challenging for anyone, no matter how trained or fit they are.

Make sure that you know what you are getting into!

My husband and I took this tour from Malaga in order to obtain transportation to and from Gibraltar. The bus ride took approximately two hours each way and was an efficient way to get there. Our guide Laura was helpful and informative. Due to the size of the group, we were towards the end of the line when were boarded and were separated. We did not complain about this, but Laura shifted passengers around, and we were seated together. It was rather awkward. We have been to Europe several times and have taken many day tours. Sometimes, it is difficult to anticipate the level of activity that will be involved. Prior to beginning our vacation, I had sustained a back injury, which was in the healing stages. We are very active seniors, and I had underestimated that this would be too much for me. This was no one's fault. Upon arriving in Gibraltar, we had a lengthy walk from the bus, to passport control, and to the main square. Coming from the US, our passports took longer to process than the rest of the group. It seemed that we were always rushing to catch up with everyone. We knew that the cable cars to the top of the rock were being repaired, but we thought that we would be able to take a private taxi and see the sights that we wanted to on our own. This is not the case at present. To do this, you have to get into a group van that holds 8 persons and follow the planned itinerary. For the grand price of approximately $165. USD, we paid for this experience. The first stop was the Pillars of Hercules, and this overlook was very nice. The second stop was entering the Caves of St. Michael. These are interesting, but I quickly realized that they are very dark and slippery. The gentleman who admitted us allowed us a chance to look around and exit. When we did so, our taxi was no where in sight. We did not realize that he had advanced to the exit. We had to walk up a hill to meet up with him, and it was very embarrassing. He admonished us, saying that he had made this clear. I guess that we missed this. The third stop was the Skywalk, which involved walking up and down several steps to an overlook, and then walking up a hill to (again) meet the taxi. I declined and stayed in the cab. The driver ignored me, and I felt that he was more than rude. I was mortified. We sat together for a very long 30 minutes while he was on the phone. Eventually, our group came back together and went to the final stop, the tunnels of WW 11. He just drove my husband and me back to downtown Gibraltar and walked away from us. This was a very humiliating experience for me, and certainly was not a good "customer experience". For a 2 hour tour, this is not what we had anticipated and his impatience was more than rude. Granted, it was no one's fault that me back was "acting up", but a little understanding would have gone a long way. We returned to casemates square, enjoyed a light snack and a glass of wine, met up with our group and reversed our walk back to the tour bus. For the remainer of our stay in Malaga, we wisely decided that any day excursions were not in our plans. We spent time on the beach and took short bus trips to coastal towns on our own. When we got off our tour bus at Old Town Malaga, Laura did ask me if I was ok, and offered to call a cab for me. I said that "I was fine", and that we were going to enjoy a meal at a tapas restaurant. She offered some suggestions. Since I have to "own my pain", my only complaint is the fact that Get Your Guide knows the taxi drivers in Gibraltar and sets up these excursions to the top of the Rock. They should know who they are dealing with and be more "customer oriented". All in all, it was an embarrassing day.

Operator response

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your experience. We truly appreciate your honesty and are sorry to hear that parts of the day did not meet your expectations. We’re pleased that Laura was helpful and attentive throughout the excursion, and that she tried to assist whenever possible during the day. At the same time, we sincerely regret that the experience at the Rock of Gibraltar became stressful and uncomfortable for you, especially while dealing with a recovering back injury. We completely understand how exhausting and frustrating that situation must have felt. The visit to the Rock is operated by local taxi providers in Gibraltar, but your comments regarding the communication, pacing and attitude of the driver are very important to us. A little more patience and understanding can make a huge difference, and we are sorry that you felt embarrassed instead of supported during the experience. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We will share your comments internally and with our local partners to help improve the experience for future travellers.
