Itinerary

Pass by

After setting sail from the Port of Giardini Naxos we will sail through the bay of Giardini Naxos, until reaching Capo Taormina. We will be able to admire from the sea the coast of the village, once a seafaring and fishing village. The Sicilian language The word "Giardini" means "citrus grove" and once the territory was occupied above all by the crops of the delicious Sicilian fruits. The term "Naxos" refers to the name that in the seventh century BC The Greeks called the first Colona in the land of Sicily. Shortly before reaching the promontory, on the south side and overlooking the Bay of Giardini Naxos, we will find the "Grotto of lovers". It is a suggestive heart -shaped natural inlet. The cave is not wet from the sea inside and is separated from the water by a difference in height of about one and a half meters. The crystal clear waters and the breathtaking view of the bay and Etna that can be admired from its interior create a magical atmosphere.

Admission included15 min

Capotaormina is a splendid promontory overlooking the sea. At its summit, nestled in the rock is the hotel of the same name, an iconic, elegant and retro-style structure. The terrace with swimming pools overlooking the sea and the famous little beach are famous. Capotaormina has a rocky seabed, with rocks emerging from the water. The lagoon, sheltered by the promontory, is a paradise for scuba diving enthusiasts, due to the numerous colonies of coral that live on the rocks. After rounding the promontory, overlooking the bay of Isola Bella we will find the "Grotta dei Coralli". It is a small cave characterized by colorful corals that, with the crystalline waters of the sea, create suggestive color contrasts. As we sail towards Isola Bella we will encounter the "Scoglio del Fico d'India", an imposing rock covered with the famous Sicilian fruit.

Admission included30 min

After the promontory we will sail in the bay of Isola Bella. It is between Capotaormina and Capo Sant'Andrea with Isola Bella in the center. Isola Bella is called the "Pearl of the Mediterranean" and its history is linked to the English noblewoman Florence Travelyan, who bought it and transformed it into a wonderful botanical garden, with precious essences and exotic flora and fauna. It is separated from the coast by a strip of sand that appears and disappears depending on the tides. Right in front of Isola Bella we will stop for a swim and to enjoy a refreshing aperitif on board. These clear, crystalline waters and rich, colorful seabeds are ideal for snorkeling and diving.

15 min

Overlooking the bay of Isola Bella, we find the Blue Grotto. The cave is about 20 meters deep. It is set in a 15-meter high rock face and owes its name to the cobalt blue and light blue colors of its interior. The sun's rays, refracted by the sea water, create a hypnotic and magical suggestion. A crystalline and transparent seabed, rich in coral, sea urchins and starfish. The myth tells that the cave was a meeting place for sea nymphs and that, on full moon nights, you can still hear their seductive songs. An unmissable experience for lovers of snorkeling and diving. After rounding Cape Sant'Andrea we will find the Grotta dei Coralli. It is a small cave whose seabed is rich in colorful corals. We will then enter the bay of Mazzarò. The small beach of Mazzarò is located in the bay north of Isola Bella, beyond the cape and is one of the most popular beaches in the area. The coastline, characterized by pebbles, has free stretches and beaches equipped with umbrellas and sun loungers.

20 min

Before returning to the port of departure, we will enter one of the most beautiful bays in the Mediterranean: the Baia delle Sirene. It is a corner of paradise, an oasis of wild beauty between myth and legend. The Bay of Sirens is shrouded in mystery and legend. It is said that its name derives from the seductive song of the sirens who, attracting sailors with their beauty, caused them to shipwreck on the rocks. The path overlooking the cliff offers unique panoramic views, while diving into the crystalline waters of the bay is a panacea for the body and spirit. An ideal place for photography lovers, thanks to its breathtaking landscapes and the light that changes continuously throughout the day. Sailing towards the port of Giardini Naxos we will see the "Elephant Rock", a gift of nature, sculpted by the sea and the wind and with an unmistakable shape. From the sea we can also see the local station, famous for being the set of some scenes from the Godfather saga.

Wear a swim suit! The ride was fun and we did see dolphins. The pizza and prosecco were a good added touch for the price!

Short boat trip Giardini-Naxos-Taormina

Only small boat, we were 2 of total 10. Wouldn’t be very comfortable with much more. No toilet. Wouldn’t do for people with sea sickness - was quite choppy. Good to see the coastline and especially area around Taormina. Promises caves but you can only get to the entrances as the entrances were too small so a bit disappointing. Approx 20-25 mins for a swim. Teenagers liked this bit best. Prosecco, sodas & almond pasties offered at this point. It wasn’t overly expensive so not complaining but it’s not the most exciting excursion.
