Itinerary
Casa Vicens, the first house Gaudi, and the first important work of the architect, offers the visitor one of the key pieces of the career of Antoni Gaudí's work that marked his point starting and architectural jewel that was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 2005. Built between 1883 and 1885 by order of Don Manuel Vicens, the Casa Vicens is an early Modernist masterpieces, anticipating the later work of Gaudi and a living example of aesthetic renewal of the air we breathe at the nineteenth century Europe. Originally, it was planned as a summer house with garden, in which geometric shapes and rich decoration, inspired by vegetation in the environment, are present both outside the home and the different interiors.

If you love architecture and learning about the history of Gaudi‘s first project in Barcelona go see this house! I love the outside. It reminds me of Venice, Italy.. took about one hour to tour and it was beautiful!
We met as instructed. When no guide turned up, we re-read our booking: no guided tour. Bring headphones. Hadn't read this properly. A guided tour would;ve been so much better especially as we didn't bring headphones so didn't use the self-guided option. Admission cost was okay. Stayed about an hour. Quiet - not very busy at all which was good. Small crowd. This is perhaps not as popular as other Gaudi homes but we'd enjoyed them on a previous visit and wanted to see something new. Staff were generally friendly and welcoming. We loved the Alhambra influences especially the blue ceiling. We saw Michael Portillo on TV visiting Casa Vicens so this planted the idea in our minds to visit. We were slightly disappointed there was no guided tour but this was our fault for not reading the ticket properly.
Well presented, lots of helpful staff and good audio set guiding. Easy to find in the Gracia District.
We had booked for 4 PM. We arrived around 3:30 PM to be told, "Today there is an exceptional event that causes the site to close at 4 PM." We therefore took a quick tour! What would have happened if we had arrived at 4 PM? We could have been informed.
A Gaudi gem in the lovely area of Gracia. It is very interesting to see an early Gaudi work and to compare and contrast it to his later works. The house has been beautifully restored and it has been really well curated, with the right level of information and history. You can visit from top to bottom, so you get a great feel for the layout of the house. It has a sweet coffee shop and a great shop.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Teresa! "A Gaudí gem in Gracia" — what a perfect way to describe Casa Vicens. We are delighted that the restoration and curation struck the right balance for you, and that exploring the house from top to bottom gave you such a strong sense of the space. We will pass your kind words on to our café and shop teams as well. We hope to welcome you back soon!
Very innovative house. We loved the exhibit showing the first houses built by Gaudi contemporary architects.
Great experience! The guide was fantastic!
Thank you for your wonderful review, Helen! It's always a pleasure to hear that our guides are making a difference. We love being able to share the story and details of Casa Vicens with visitors like you. We hope to see you again soon!
Signing up for the self guided audio tour exceeded our expectations. The casa is beautiful and the audio tour provided good descriptions of all the rooms in this masterpiece designed by Gaudi.
Very worth seeing and not as crowded as the other houses.
The details learned from the audio tour is worth the hassel. Just listen to it on your phone. Lots of extra in the attached building.
