Itinerary
Start your morning with a leisurely stroll around the crater of Trou Aux Cerf. A much-loved part of the city with stunning views, the dormant volcano is a charming gem overlooking the town of Curepipe and dominates the view over the island. The huge volcanic crater reveals the existence of the paradise island that was formed millions of years ago and is approximately 85 meters in depth and 300 meters wide.
Afterwards, we will discover the handmade ship models at Voiliers de l’Ocean. This shop could be chosen as one of the most unusual places, giving visitors a real island feel. Watch how skilled local artisans perfect and craft scale models of historical ships, galleons and boats that were used to transport goods and produce to and from the island. Fitting one in your suitcase to take back home may prove difficult but the shop can make arrangements for your purchase to be shipped to you.
Moving on from the model ship factory, we will visit the town of Curepipe where you will discover a myriad of small boutiques in a tranquil atmosphere, with no pushy sellers, offering a wide range of goods from cashmere pashminas and garments to jewellery and souvenirs. Most of the shops have been operated for generations and provide the best quality of products exported from Europe and India that have been made using traditional skills and techniques. Indulge your loved one’s fantasies with fashionable times. Don’t forget to bring your passport, as duty-free shopping is widely available.
The colonial house of Domaine Des Aubineaux was built in 1872 out of teak and other local woods taken from demolished ships and is home to several antiques, furniture and paintings dated back to the 18th century. The residence was one of the first to be equipped with electricity on the Island. It was inhabited by the Guimbeau family native of France and established in Mauritius for eight generations now.
Leaving Curepipe and descending southbound from the central plateau, you will take in the beautiful views of the landscapes en route to the Bois Cheri Tea Plantation and Factory. Witness how the tea leaves are hand-picked and processed from plant to teapot. After the visit, we will take you to their charming restaurant nestled on the hill, where you will feast on a scrumptious traditional lunch. Let the tea sommelier prepare you a nice cup of tea as you sit back in the tranquil atmosphere and take in the dominating views over the tea plantations.

Next, we will meet the crocodiles and other wildlife animals at La Vanille Nature Park, hidden in the heart of a tropical rainforest where authenticity, traditions, and landscapes of the olden days have been carefully preserved. Animals include birds, deer, giant tortoises and Nile crocodiles as well as iguana lizards. There is also an insectarium hosting 25,000 species and a museum dedicated to the island’s native extinct flightless dodo bird.
On our way back, we will stop on one of the highest bridges, which was used for the train transportation of sugar cane harvested from the plantations of the Savanne region. Capture the perfect Instagram photo with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking views of the lush rainforest of the Savanne region to the southern coast and ocean beyond.
Afterwards, we will visit the factory and distillery of Saint Aubin and relish their famous rum, which they have been producing since 1819. Their white cane rum, made from fresh sugar cane, was awarded a silver medal at the London Spirit Competition in 2018. We are sure you will love it too! Enjoy a stroll in the garden of the colonial house that was built in the beginning of their expedition back in 1819.

It was our first time in Mauritius and Avi sure made sure it was unforgettable! My wife has limited mobility and Avi was still able to create a city tour that allowed us to have a full experience! We then were able to see much more during the same day, as he took us to the most scenic places on the island, so just in one full day, we learned about the island's history, culture and saw many magnificent sights. We ended up spending more time with Avi and his wife Jaya on our last day on the island complete with more culinary experiences, excellent massage (Jaya is a licensed massage therapist and she owns a wonderful spa) and of course more magnificent views. Mauritius is a gem and Avi helped us to discover it fully. It is a long trip from USA, but it's well worth to visit at least once in a lifetime. We highly recommend Unwind Mauritius as your tour guide and do not forget to ask Avi to do oysters tasting! Thank you Avi and Jaya for the unforgettable experience and we hope to be back soon! Me and Jaya, we look forward to welcoming you & Millie back to Mauritius very soon. With best regards, Avi Gopaul
Very friendly driver who fulfilled all wishes. Ideal for getting to know the island. Can only recommend.

The tour of the SOUTH as written in the title is worth maybe on a gloomy day ... all cute but not expecting anything exciting .but it is worth in particular I liked the visit to a Rum factory the land of 7 colors etc.
Greetings from Mauritius simonebE1616IS, We are glad you loved the tour and especially our local rum. It's perfect for a punch and we would love to send you a bottle if you like it. Let us know! See you soon in Mauritius. Best Regards Avi
Pick-up from the ship was delayed. Driver Hans had mistakenly hit a wrong dock. After a call back to the Enterprise, it arrived 15 minutes late. The rest of the course was easy. Beautiful impressions received from the south of the island. Hans, a student, also had background knowledge about the island. Almost all points of the tour described above were fulfilled, except for the included lunch, as there was no menu selection with 3-course menu, as intended, but only a main course ordered by the driver in the restaurant; but tasted very good. Also, only one drink for lunch was free (another had to be paid) although the tour description stated that soft drinks were included in the menu. Overall, the excursion was worthwhile and was more cost-effective than the excursion offered by the ship
Very nice view from the top Several mountains and sea views can be seen A dormant volcano but magnify by the greenery To do
Hello Philippe D, We hope you are doing great! Yes, the views are awesome in the south of Mauritius. With the trees surrounding the dormant volcano, it's a perfect place for a morning walk as well :) We look forward to see you this year in Mauritius Best Regards Avi Gopaul
