The Royal Gorge is one of the most thrilling and exciting whitewater rafting trips on the Arkansas River. Enjoy the beauty and thrill of God’s creation as you experience 1,000 foot high canyon walls, confront exciting Class III-V rapids, and see the famous Royal Gorge Bridge. Full-day trips start with Bighorn Canyon (class III-IV), break for a delicious riverside lunch, then drop into the Royal Gorge (class IV-V). Journey Quest is a non-profit Christ-centered rafting ministry, and these trip are uplifting, family-friendly adventures. The Royal Gorge is a serious section of river. Previous class III or higher paddling experience and strong swimming ability are recommended for all guests. For the safety of our guests and guides, we cannot take guests who are over 250lbs or individuals with a history of heart or serious medical problems. We all had great fun. The guides were funny and friendly. The river was incredible. The entire family had a great time.
A knowledgeable and skilled guide, Mark gave us a lot of history of the area as he guided us over the rapids. Rafting in low water conditions can be as challenging as high water. Everyone on the JourneyQuest staff were kind, friendly and respectful. They really demonstrate their Christian faith in their work.

First of all outstanding staff in accommodating my needs and explaining the different trips to match my expectations. The guide, Mark, was so awesome in preparing us for the trip and how to handle any situation. Once on the river he guided us perfectly through a lot of big water so professionally. Everyone in the raft worked so well together under his leadership and instructions. He also was a well informed person of the history of the river and sites we passed olong the way. I gave been whiterwater rafting for over 20 years and this was one of my best experiences. Can’t wait till next year. Will definitely use Journey Wiest exclusively for my whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River.
We loved our trip! We have been rafting for several years and this is the first time with this company and they were terrific! Mark, our guide, did tell a couple corny jokes (dead dog tree, no bark) but we managed to live through it!

Our trip was Epic! Luke was a terrific guide and very knowledgeable about the History of the Royal Gorge and how to navigate the rapids. I was cold during the morning half of trip and at lunch Luke called in for a dry jacket and a fleece to add warmth. I had no idea that Journey Quest was part of a Christian Wilderness Ministry when I booked, but there really isn’t any religious components to the trip except for a quick safety prayer at the beginning of the trip- which I think was an added bonus. Luke kept us safe- and it was an beautiful adventure!
