Firostefani is located north of Fira. It used to be a separate settlement but today it is considered part of the capital. Its name can be translated as " The Crown of Fira" because of its position on the highest part of Fira. Firostefani provides breathtaking views over the capital, the sea and the volcano. In this traditional village there are a few cozy restaurants, cafes, some shops and a mini market. It also offers some of the most impressive hotels of Santorini and some traditional rooms where you can combine serenity and relaxation with a vivid nightlife.
Oia,which is mentioned in various travel reports,is a scenic village on the north west edge of the Santorini island. It extends for almost 2km (1.2 miles) along the northern edge of the Caldera that forms the island of Santorini,at a height of between 70 and 100m (230 and 330 feet) above sea level. It is built on the steep slope of the Caldera and the houses and restaurants are built into niches carved into the Caldera on the seawood side. There are 300 steps down to the port from Oia. There are narrow passageways and a central square. The surroundings of the town have a complex of white washed , blue domed churches and charming traditional Cycladic houses. It is set in a location which provides excellent views of the sunset over the Caldera
Megalochori, a peaceful traditional village of Santorini with stone cobbled streets. It is located 9 km southwest of Fira. The permanent residents of the village are about 300. It is definitely worth spending an evening here in order to admire distinct buildings such as neoclassical houses, stately homes and old cave houses with solid wooden doors and high fences, which were used as a protection from the pirates. Another landmark of Megalochori is the elaborate steeples of the impressive churches, two of which stand at the center of the village. It is very famous for its vineyards and wineries. There are also two remote beaches on the Caldera side, both named after churches in the area,Plaka and Thermi beach. They are only accessible on foot or by boat. You can find traditional taverns and cafes where you can taste local dishes under the natural shade of the trees.
In the charming traditional village of Akrotiri, you will find the Lighthouse of Santorini. It was built by a French company in 1892, making it one of the oldest in Greece. It stopped operating during World War II but started again in 1945 with a reconstruction by the Greek Navy. It has a square shade tower that emerges above 10 meters from the warden's house. At present, it emits a radiant white light at intervals of 20 seconds reaching out to the sea for about 24 nautical miles. They can also enjoy spectacular views over the sea and observe a memorable, romantic and colorful sunset. For those who seek sightseeing, the ruins of the ancient Minoan settlement are the perfect option. The quite vibe of the place in contrast with the harshness of nature has a hypnotic power on you!!!
The Black Sand Beach is located on the southern coast of the island. There are two successive beaches, Perissa Beach and Perivolos Beach, which form one lengthy beach, the Black Beach. The surface of this beach is made of black volcanic sand and pebbles. Their grey or black colour have the name to the whole beach, which is therefore called the " Black Beach". It is known for the thumbing beach bars. The inviting and fun atmosphere in combination with the plentiful bars and restaurants make it a very lively place. There are also plenty of facilities and water sports like windsurfing, canoeing and a diving center. Ιf you wish we will stay on the black beach for an hour and thirty minutes for swimming and for your lunch at a seaside restaurant on the beach
Less than five kilometers (3.1 miles) away from the village Pyrgos it is situated the mountain of Profitis Ilias, the highest point of the island. It stands 567 meters above the sea level . At its top there is the Monastery of Profitis Ilias (or Prophet Elias) and it counts among the island's oldest and most important Orthodox landmarks. It was founded in 1711 by Gabriel and Ioakeim (2 monks) and it was built in the style of a fortress. It ran a school from 1806 to 1845 where Greek language and literature were among the main subjects taught. Today, the Monastery even has its own museum with a collection of rare ecclesiastical books, Byzantine icons and sculptures. This is a tranquil and quiet place where many visitors wish to stay longer. You can visit the chapel and its impressive gardens. Flowers and trees have been planted around the Monastery and over 700 olive trees complete the picture from where you can enjoy breathing panoramic views.

Our guide was Petros. We saw 75% of the island with him. He was great at explaining everything and being patient with all the instagram photos.
Spending the day touring Santorini guided by Petros with our family of 4 (mid-40’s couple, 2 young teens) was the perfect way to spend the last day of our cruise. The meet-up was seamless having given us guidance beforehand of the tender process and cable car queuing. The pace and itinerary was flexible and accommodating. We opted to skip the crowds in Oia, in order to enjoy more of the island. From Fira we went to Firostefani, the villages of Pyrgos and Megalichori and the light house. We had a relaxing lunch and refreshing swim at the Black Beach, then visited the Lighthouse and Red Beach. We then opted for wine tasting at a small family winery and end with a drive back to the starting point. Throughout the tour he shared his knowledge of Greek/Santorini history, volcanic formation, plant life, friendly conversation and even our shared engineering backgrounds. We truly enjoyed our day on Santorini with Petros and highly recommend him!
Excellent and efficient way to see most of the island with my 21 year old daughter Hard to imagine one could do this without a private tour Petros the guide was excellent
We booked the Full-Day Private Tour of Santorini Caldera & The Most Famous Sightseeing starting at 10:00 AM, and it was absolutely one of the highlights of our vacation. Our guide, Pedro, was spectacular from start to finish. He gave us wonderful local recommendations, navigated the busy streets effortlessly, and guided us directly to the best vantage points around the famous and not so famous blue domes and cliff view, for flawless, crowd-free photos. The itinerary was packed with incredible stops. We explored the unique black beaches and stopped for a wonderful lunch right on the water at Forty One 41 and went to Kamari. We also fit in some great local shopping, visited the historic lighthouse, and took in the fabulous, sweeping views of Red Beach, the dramatic coastline, and the caldera itself. Having a private guide made this packed day feel completely relaxed and stress-free. We cannot recommend Pedro and this tour enough!

Our experience in Santorini with Pedro was just amazing! From the first moment he made us feel comfortable and welcome, while his courtesy and professionalism stand out. He is extremely familiar with the island and shared with us many interesting information about the history, culture and the most beautiful places of Santorini. The tour was perfectly organized, without any rush, and tailored to our own preferences. We visited both the famous attractions and hidden diamonds that we would not find on our own.
