08.30 Set out on your 8-hour journey when your chauffeur-guide collect you from your hotel in a private Air-conditioned vehicle. Start your tour with the visit to National Museum (own expense), the oldest and largest museum in the country that’s highly regarded for its antiques collection. Continue to the magnificent Kelaniya Temple, one of three holy places in Sri Lanka visited by Buddha.
12.30 Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and savour delicious traditional Sri Lankan cuisine (at your own cost). 13.30 Rejuvenated, visit the colorful and chaotic Petah Market, one of the largest in Colombo. Here you can find almost everything, from tropical fruit to fresh-caught seafood to jewelry. After shopping, explore the Gangarama Temple (own expense), positioned both on land and on a lake, and its small but impressive museum. We came to Colombo on a cruiseship and took Beyond Escapes for a private customizable citytour. We were very glad we did so and had a fabulous day. Our very friendly and knowledgeable driver guide Mr. Kumara picked us up at the portgate on time and gave us a great Citytour. We visited Columbos major attractions such as the red mosque, Kelanija temple, Hindutemple and National museum, but also some hidden gems such as Sri Abhayaraamaya temple. Mr. Kumara speaks good English and explained everything we wanted to know. He is also a very good, responsible driver. The air conditioned car was clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend Columbo Beyond Escapes and would book them again.
