Full Day Lake Titicaca Tour to Uros and Taquile Islands is a popular and the best way to witness life on these remote islands. At 3812 metres above sea level (12506 ft.), Lake Titicaca is recognised as the world’s highlest navigable lake. Lake Titicaca straddles the border between Peru and Bolivia. A vast portion of the Lake belongs to Peru. It is home to many different remote islands where fishing and farming are main source of income. Floating islands of Uros, Taquile and Amantani are the prominent ones and are open for tourism. On this full day tour, you will be visiting the floating islands of Uros and Taquile Island with our local bi lingual (English and Spanish) travel expert. You will get an insight into the life of locals here and how they sustain their daily life with minimum resources. Locals here are untouched by modernity and maintain their age old traditions and customs. They still talk in Aymara and Quechua.

Itinerary
Your epic tour begins with a transfer to the boat pier where you will embark on a 25 minutes boat ride to see the life on the floating islands of Uros. As you begin sailing away, you will get a pristine view of the snow capped Andean peaks at a distance. As we will reach to the shores of Uros islands, locals will extend a warm welcome and will introduce you to their life on this man made island. People here speak Aymara, our tour guide will teach you a few words so you can greet them in their language. The head of the community will demonstrate on how they build these islands and will share the history of it. If desired, you can buy some souvenirs here. The locals will then offer a short ride on their totora reed boat to the main island of Uros (this has an additional cost of 10 Soles). You will have some free time to stroll around, the island is also made of totora reed. Once you have had your fill of the history and views, we will embark on a 2 hours journey to Taquile.
As the boat would near the shores of Taquile Island, our local expert will be giving you a brief information of the life of locals here. It is almost a 45 minutes walk up the hill to the summit from where you will get to contemplate the views. Taquile is home to the best Andean handicrafts. Men here do the knitting while women spin the wool. People here dress based on their marital status. Our guide will be explaining this to you in detail. A village chief will give you a demonstration on how they dye the wool using vegetables. After a brief introduction, we will be stopping for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we will be hiking back down to the pier and embark on our boat for a return trip to Puno. The distance of 36 kilometres (22 miles) will be covered roughly in two and a half hours. We will be reaching Puno by 0500 PM. Our representative will meet you and will transfer you back to your hotel within the centre of the city.

A perfect day trip from Puno! One of the guides, Julio, personally picked me up from my hotel and took me to the shuttle bus, which was a great start to the day. I was then placed in Fausto's group, and he was an outstanding guide. His English was excellent, and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the local history and cultures. Pablo was another standout guide who gave entertaining and informative commentary during the boat cruise, making the journey even more enjoyable. Visiting the local families on Uros was a truly special experience, and lunch on Taquile Island was exceptional. We enjoyed delicious quinoa soup followed by fresh trout with Peruvian potatoes, and there was also a vegetarian option available. The transport was comfortable, the entire day was well organized, and it offered fantastic value for money. A must-do experience when visiting Puno!

We did the full day tour with guide Ruben and it was very unique experience. Nancy picked us up from the hotel on the day of the tour and she was very kind and helpful. They also stored our bags while we were on the tour. Taquile island involved a bit of hike but it was very well organised with regular stops. The views were out worldly and the lunch was very delicous. Highly recommend the tour and Discover Lake Titicaca. A big plus if you get Ruben as your guide.

We opted for this full day trip before travelling to Bolivia and we are very happy with everything. The communication, guide, transfers everything was efficient. The guide was very knowledgable. This was a perfect day trip from Puno, the pickup was very well cordinated and the guide was very knowledgable and passionate to share information about the local traditions and customs. Lunch was served in Taquile island in a local family restaurant overlooking the valley. Highly reccomend.

Despite the disrupted weather in the morning, everything was great. We had a private tour of the two islands. The sun appeared in a magnificent setting... Two completely different islands... but authentic... Stunning landscapes!

A very friendly guide and professional staff. Everything was perfect from start to end with no unpleasant surprises. The tour included visits to two different islands and locals were welcoming and explained about their traditions and customs. The floating islands was a little touristic but quite different in a pleasant way.
