Itinerary

420 min

On this full-day tour you will see the 3 main attractions of the Krabi jungle: Wat Tahm Suea (the Tiger Cave Temple), Sra Morakot (the Emerald Pool), and the natural hot spring. First you will visit the Tiger Cave Temple, aptly named because of the rock outgrowth nearby resembling a tiger’s claw. Located about 3 kilometers from Krabi Town, the temple is known as a center for meditation and its spectacular setting in the Ao Luk Thanu mountain range provides the necessary quiet atmosphere for meditation. Some 250 monks and nuns live in the temple compounds at the moment. The main vihara (sanctum sanctorum) is inside a small shallow limestone cave, where the walls are lined by cells. The area is well lit and very well maintained to preserve the serenity of the environment. Here you can venture up the hills by taking 1 of the 2 passages. One passage takes you up 1,239 steps to the hilltop and the other is only 130 steps up to reach a place where monks live in their small cottages. The commanding view all around is worth taking the strain to climb the hill. The whole area is full of caves and limestone rock formations. Archeologists have found remnants of ancient habitations as old as from the Stone Age. Stone tools, shards of pottery and beads, and idols of clay have all been unearthed which bear testimony to the cultural heritage of the area. You will also trek through the jungle to the Emerald Pool/Crystal Lagoon, a fresh water pool inside the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve. The waters of this 120-square-meter pond take on a green hue thanks to an abundance of minerals from the surroundings limestone hills. The crystal clear water is unsuitable for drinking and feels thick due to its high calcium carbonate content which can cause gallstone. Here you can go for a swim to escape the heat of the day and admire the stream, one of the sources of the pool, which tumbles in at one end over rock made smooth by mineral deposits. Another natural wonder you will see on this tour is the natural hot spring in Krabi. Out in the forest about 40 kilometers south of Krabi Town is Klong Thom Waterfall. Though the falls itself is just a cascade tumbling gently but a few meters, it is unique in that the spring water that feeds it bubbles up from the earth at temperature of more than 50 degrees Celsius. It cools a bit as it flows to the cascade and you can swim in the calm stream below for a much cooler bath. Experience never to be repeated again after five years... Everything was terrible

Everything was poorly organized.. Broken and dirty plates.. food of terrible quality.. Dirty pool... Entertainment 0.... Unqualified, inexperienced and rude staff.. Offensive manager... To try to remedy or make up for all the problems.. He hoped and thought he could buy us with four glasses of wine!!! Offensive !!!!

Excellent, beware of the Tiger Temple

Great experience, the hot springs are very relaxing and the blue lagoon is very nice. The emerald pool if it's too full. Tiger temple is beautiful and a great experience but not recommended for people without fitness

Could be better

Very little information unfortunately. And what he told us was extremely difficult to understand. Would have really loved to have heard more about the temple, the area, the pools

Hot springs worth it, but nothing else!

The hot springs were great as we had private access only to share with one other group. The emerald pool was horrendous. Our guide had warned us it would be busy, but it was crazy busy and just not the beautiful natural waters we had been promised.

Good guide!

Many water points do not make very natural especially the one where you swim! The guide very smiling and available, ensures his follow-up, the driver coming although discreet. The temple is a good physical exercise rewarded by sight.

An okay experience

A little to much for one day, very little time each place. Beautiful destinations though, I would recommend taking either the pools or tiger temple in one day trip. Also feels a little silly, that there is an additional fee for entering the tiger tempel, since its under construction so you can't! It also wasnt possible to walk the mountain because of bad weather when arriving to the tiger temple, but that not the guides fault ofcourse, she recommended to go there early morning instead.

Operator response

Thank you for your honest review! We're glad you enjoyed the beautiful destinations, though we understand it felt a bit rushed. Your suggestion to split the tour is helpful, and we apologize for the inconvenience with the additional fee at the Tiger Temple. We'll work to improve the schedule for a more relaxed experience. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! 🌴😊

Better book a taxi

Really liked the lady tour guide in the taxi, but besides that it was just a taxi taking you to these places. There was no guide/tour, it was just visiting those places all by yourself. Also skip the hot springs. If you are from Europe I recommend going to Center Parks or Landal swimmingpool for an better experience

Operator response

Excursion around Krabi

Well organized and a nice trip! Were almost always the first at the individual stations, so it was not quite as crowded!

Operator response

Dear x1y2z3b Thanks for joining our jungle tour, and it is good to leave early to avoid the crowds.

Not so nice

Crystal pool and hot springs were so crowded that we skipped it and just walk around. It just didn't feel nice to sit in a small hot spring with plenty of other people. Tiger temple was the last thing we visited. It was very hot day and we didn't have enough time to visit the temple, because it is very high on a mountain and the only way to get there is by stairs. So we missed that one. Beware of the monkeys who like to steal your stuff! But they were still very cute and fun to watch

Operator response

Dear Liis Thanks for your valuable review. You did the tour in Feb 2020 during peak/high season with not only Western visitors but also many Thai people coming to Krabi this time. If you visit the Crystal Pool and Hot Springs now after Covid-19 pandemic, this is a totally different experience with much less tourists. The Tiger Cave Temple consists of different sites, the temple itself on the ground floor, the viewpoint on top of a mountain with approx. 1200 steps and some hidden caves in the forest (where the monks reside) which can be easily reached on foot in 10 minutes. Kind regards, Stef
