Itinerary

15 min

Wadi Rum Village - We will meet at the Rest House in Wadi Rum Village. This is the first place you will see on your right, when you enter the village. There is a supermarket and a souvenir shop and our office is just around the corner. When all tourists are present and welcomed by the guide, we start the jeep tour (usually around 10:00)

30 min

Lawrence Spring - This natural water source with cool water running down the mountains into the throughs, is the camels' favorite hangout! With small trees and the almost fluorescent green moss, this is a true oasis. Relax here, just as the Bedouins and their herds used to do, and watch how herds of camels pass by, longing for fresh water. Or climb up the mountain to see spectacular views and the many inscriptions of Thamudic origin.

30 min

Khazali Canyon - From the outside, this looks like an ordinary mountain, but when you enter the canyon between the split mountains, you take a journey back in time. You can see the traces of the merchants who traveled with their caravans from Egypt to Damascus, and of the pilgrims who passed through the canyon to Mecca. See the fascinating Thamudic, Nabatean, and Islamic inscriptions, and petroglyphs of humans, animals, and soles of feet when you enter the canyon. And a series of basins in the back.

60 min

Red Sand Dune - This is the most famous sand dune in Wadi Rum! It owes its red color to a high concentration of iron oxide. It seems like a simple climb, but the sand is soft and difficult to walk on, which can make it challenging for tourists to climb, but very entertaining for the locals to watch. At the top you can enjoy amazing panoramic views of the valley. The best way to get down is running or sandboarding.

30 min

Little Bridge - Through years of various severe weather influences, this natural Little Bridge has been formed on a rock formation in the Khor El Ajram area. It is called Little Bridge because it’s only a few meters high and easy to climb, but the views are stunning and on pictures it looks pretty big and impressive. It’s perfect for families with children, and those who don’t want to climb too high. When you come down again, a cup of sweet tea awaits you in the Bedouin tent where you can buy souvenirs or relax and hang out with locals.

30 min

Umm Fruth Rock Bridge - This 15-meter-high bridge is the most famous bridge in Wadi Rum. It is not a historical place but it is the ultimate place to take enviable photos. Give your phone or camera to your guide who will stay on the ground and take an impressive photo of you on top of the bridge. The locals run up and down the bridge with ease, but for tourists it is a bit more challenging. That is why small holes have been made which makes the climb a bit easier.

60 min

Traditional Bedouin Lunch - We will take you to a nice place with a good view, where your guide prepares a delicious traditional lunch, cooked outside on the fire. The menu is different every day, but we like to cook you a warm meal with vegetables, bread, hummus, yoghurt, and other local treats. While we are cooking, you can explore the area with a hike, or just sit down and relax while you enjoy the Wadi Rum landscape.

60 min

Abu Khashaba Canyon - Stretch your legs and enjoy a nice walk in this deep narrow valley, surrounded by tall mountain walls. There’s a lot of green, which makes a beautiful contrast with the red desert sand. You will see many different types of trees and plants, and hear countless birds chirping. The locals have hung bottles to collect the rainwater so that the birds can drink from it. It is a real oasis of peace. The walk takes 30 to 45 minutes, and your guide will pick you up on the other side.

30 min

Lawrence's House - Lawrence's house plays an important role in the history of Wadi Rum. Nabateans laid the foundation for this place over 2000 years ago which was used as a stop for the passing caravans. Later it became known as Lawrence's house, because TE Lawrence, in the story "Lawrence of Arabia" was based here. When you reach the top after a short climb, you will be amazed by the countless piles of stones. In the past, the Bedouins used to stack stones as road markings. You can see far into the vast desert plain, which again makes for great photos.

30 min

White Desert - Wadi Rum is known for the red sand where most of the highlights of the tour are, but further south the area changes into the white desert. It seems as if you have entered a completely different world. This area is not yet heavily visited by tourists, so there is much more flora to discover and a better chance to spot wildlife. It’s very special to stand in the white sand and see the transition to the red part in the distance. You can also notice a difference in the landscape, the rock formations and even the sand itself.

30 min

Mushroom Rock - In Wadi Rum there are many famous rock formations, known for its unusual and sometimes even funny shape. The Musroom shaped rock owes its shape to years of erosion, with the lower part wearing out faster than the upper part. Mushroom Rock is fun place to take nice pictures and find some shelter. Bedouins used rock formations like this to seek shelter, after walking in the hot desert for hours.

30 min

Burdah Rock Bridge - At the top of Jabal Burdah, you will find one of the highest natural rock bridges in the world. During the jeep tour we make a stop close by so that we can admire the bridge from a distance. The total climb to the bridge can take up to 4 hours, this is not included in the jeep tour and can be booked via a hiking tour or upon request.

60 min

Sunset Viewpoint - Wadi Rum is known for having the most breathtaking sunsets. Each day we see different colors! And we know the best places to watch it! We will take you to a secluded area where you can overlook the wide panoramic landscape as the sun sets, while we prepare some sweet Bedouin tea on the fire. Just sit on the mattrass or in the sand and take in all the beauty you see around you.

15 min

Wadi Rum Village - After the tour we will drop you off again at the Rest House in the Wadi Rum village

Highlight of my Jordan trip

My time in the desert was really great thanks to Wadi Rum Desert Dreams. Everything was well taken care of from start to finish. We had a very nice tour of Bakhir, who showed us all the highlights of the desert. Especially the inscriptions of Khazali canyon were impressive, the traditional lunch was delicious and I would recommend it to everyone. Really a great day, thank you all!!

Slightly chaotic but great fun nonetheless!

It didn’t start off the best. We arrived at 9:30 as per the booking, but our guide didn’t arrive until 9:55. When he did arrive he was confused as to what we had booked and thought we were doing a half day and it took a few minutes and a couple of phone calls to sort it out. Once everything was sorted and we got out into the desert though everything was great! We had an absolutely great time driving around and exploring Wadi Rum. Every single stop (except the mushroom rock) was interesting, fun and absolutely amazing to look at. I do think the description saying you only need moderate fitness is a bit misleading as it was a very physically intense day climbing up to some of the locations (Lawrence spring and the second rock bridge especially!) The lunch was a traditional galayet with vegetables, tuna and bread, and it was absolutely delicious - one of the best meals we ate during our stay in Jordan! All the tour operators follow roughly the same route, so despite just having us booked onto our trip we spent a lot of the day with them same people from other groups which made it more fun. There were plenty of extra opportunities not mentioned which we also got to enjoy. There was sand-boarding and we got to feed a camel, and at the end we got to sit and watch the sunset from an amazing viewpoint right in the middle of the area. We had an absolutely amazing time and can’t recommend it enough!

Amazing authentic desert experience

It was an incredible experience!! Bakhir, our guide, took us to see all the most famous places, as well as some hidden gems.He gave us a lot of free time to roam around and explore by ourselves. He is such a kind and calm person, and his stories of the desert are amazing. Also, his photography skills are top notch. He took such great photos & videos of us, we were amazed. Throughout the trip he was very attentive to our needs, we had everything we needed and more - cold water, fruits, sweets and the lunch he cooked was yummy.

Operator response

Thank you very much! We really had a great time as well

Definitely recommended. Great experience

The trip was awesome. Our guide and driver Tamir did everything to make us feel comfortable. He was explaining to us about every single place and stone we drove through. He and his cousin cooked traditional Bedouin meal for us (to which we were very skeptic at the beginning, but after we tasted it - it was all gone).

Thank you very much!
