Fuerteventura Villages Caves and Farm Tour with Lunch from South

Description
Discover charming inland village of Betancuria and visit its colonial church. Admire the unusual Aztec-looking church façade in the pretty village of Pajara. Sample the island's best-known cheeses and visit an aloe vera plantation. Explore sea caves and black sand beaches in the fishing village of Ajuy. Expert local guide with an unrivalled knowledge of Fuerteventura and its history. Stroll through timeworn village plazas and into pretty colonial churches, investigate sea caves and learn about typical produce. Between stops you'll visit lofty viewpoints to admire Fuerteventura's unusually stark landscape. It may look barren but Marta, one of our expert guides, says, ‘There are 44 different bird species found on Fuerteventura, despite the lack of trees. That's only four fewer than on the forested island of Madeira.'

Itinerary
You'll start the day learning about one of the island's best-known products at an aloe vera plantation. Find out how it's become an excellent all-rounder in the wellbeing world. We'll then head to Pajara to visit Nuestra Señora de la Regla church to admire its standout Aztec-looking façade. Marta adds, ‘Pajara was once voted the sixth most beautiful village in Spain. It oozes charm.'
Drive next to the tiny west-coast fishing village of Ajuy, where you can explore its black-sand beach and sea caves in chalk cliffs. It's on to Betancuaria next, with a photo stop along the way to overlook the parched mountains and the ocean at the Las Peñitas viewpoint.
Step back in time in Betancuria with a chance to see the church of Santa María – the oldest in the Canaries – which was consecrated in 1424, or take a visit to the archaeological museum and view some interesting exhibitions.
Glass of cava is included.
Then it's on to a family-run restaurant in Valle de Santa Ines for a lunch made from locally sourced ingredients.
To round off the day, we'll visit a goat farm and sample local cheeses as well as local jams and honey rum liqueur – a Fuerteventura favourite.

This is a full day trip with a number of stops at places of interest. We were picked up at 10am and didn't return until 6pm. The Driver and Tour guide were friendly and informative and we were well looked after. The Caves were impressive, although you need to be be fit and able to climb the 100 steps down and back up. The Goat Farm was interesting, very rustic but the cheese samples were delicious. No pressure to buy anything which was nice. If you like history and architecture, the two villages we stopped at had very interesting churches to visit. The lunch stop felt like a very family restaurant. The service was efficient and although quite basic the food was pleasant. The Aloe Vera farm, again there was no pressure to buy, but the staff were very informative and happy to explain about the products . All in all it was a very interesting day and I felt I learned a lot about the Island. It was also very relaxed which made it a very enjoyable experience.
I loved the tour Its was really nice,as picked up from the hotel near by ours. Visited Ajuy village caves, its rrally windy tjere and steep walk(make sure you wear suitable footwear) but its so beautiful Then we drove trough mountains with amazing views, had the chance to take photos there. Lunch was in a local restaurant-really big portions, loved the soup and chicken, lots of wine as well x Stoped at Betancuria old town and then visited the goat and aloe vera farms

We had a great tour guide. Oli. He gave us lots of interesting information very approachable. The tour was brilliant though I would say you could do with maybe more time at the caves and less time at the aloe Vera plant. The goat farm was lovely especially seeing the baby goats learning how to feed. The place we stopped for lunch was great. Big portions soup to start, chicken salad and potatoes very filling and tasty. The chicken was so succinct. I’m abit of a fussy eater with meat on the bone but this was delicious. A choice of water wine or red wine. The coach driver was great too. Picked us right on the time given. Highly recommended for look round the island and if your lucky enough to have oli as your guide he gives a lot of information during the whole trip, pointing out things of interest and if like me you like history he explains that about different areas too.

It was a nice tour with a lot of good sights to see, however it wasn’t as well organised as we would have liked with things being only vaguely pointed out by the guide instead of being shown and thus being able to get the full experience.

The host (Jane?) was very informative throughout the trip and we got a real feel of the island - much appreciated. We would have liked to stay a little longer at a couple of the stops but I suppose it's a lot to pack in to one day. Overall, highly recommended and we felt completely safe with our coach driver along the windy roads.

Amazing trip with lots of stunning views. Not much time at each stop but lots crammed in. Sea caves are amazing but quite a trek and include 100 steps cut into the cliff side.

Great trip with some spectacular geographical feature to be seen close-up. A tricky decent into the cave though down a steep and uneven stairway.
