Description
We aim to create conservation awareness through education and to give the visitor a once in a lifetime experience. Buffelsdrift Game Lodge is part of EWT’s Cheetah Meta-population project, and are wanting to contribute towards the existence and increase of the free-roaming cheetah population in their natural habitat in Southern Africa. Cheetahs, like all other large predators, are heavily persecuted by livestock farmers. To conserve habitat for species such as the cheetah are a massive challenge to overcome. Buffelsdrift Game Lodge decided to contribute to this cause, by conserving the habitat for the cheetah and in so doing help to overcome the challenges that our cheetah meta-population faces. Track the free roaming cheetahs by vehicle and by foot in their natural environment at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge.

My partner and I took part in the Free-roaming cheetah experience recently, and would recommend this highly. The guide, Hayley, was knowledgeable, engaged, and respectful of the cheetahs. She had a huge job to juggle driving, locating, and keeping us all together! The brothers were a bit elusive that morning- but there was so much other things to see on our walk, including flowers, lichens and insects! We booked early, before we left on our vacation, due to the popularity of this activity and limited capacity.

What an amazing experience!! Free roaming with Cheetahs??? Sounds crazy!! Well, it probable was Crazy tbf...but also made for an incredibly special, unforgettable, "pinch me" experience. To be so close to the 2 Cheetah brothers was an absolute privilege. We ventured out on a cooler morning and the brothers were playful and active, which really enhanced our visit. It did get a bit lively toward the end as the Cheetahs came a little closer, but our guide (Henry) remained calm and composed and we all survived, LOL! Henry was brilliant throughout and pointed out numerous other species on our way to the Cheetah Reserve, so we had a really full-on experience. So different, and with memories made that will last a lifetime. A very special morning out indeed - thank you!

We found the cheetahs after some time and were able to admire them up close. We also saw some other animals. Our guide was able to give us a lot of information about the animals. It was a great tour!

They use an antenna to track down the Cheethas. The equipment didn't work and we walked in circles for 3 hours. The tour guide didn't have a plan and just started walking, changed the cable every 5 minutes and then walked the other way. My husband had to use Google Maps to help interpret the satellite updates. For that kind of money I expect working equipment or sure the guide knows how to help himself.

It was the amazing experience of South Africa. To see the mother and her three kids in the wild. Good ranger too! He was very professional and had a lot of knowledge about the wildlife.
We had a misfortune to experience rain and cold, but wow, such an incredible morning!! We were given ponchos to keep us warm, and the guide was amazing! After an hour ride, and a few minutes walk under the rain, we were greeted by the most amazing encounter ever, a sight we will never forget!! A male cheetah chilling under a tree, looking at us totally unconcerned by our presence. Nature at its best! Thank you guys for taking such good care of such superior beautiful creatures!!
