Matt shared interesting info throughout the entire day about wines and the areas of interest around us.
What a great and informative tour of Texas Hill Country and wineries along the way to Fredericksburg. Was the wine the highest quality I’ve had? No. But it was fun to explore while I was in San Antonio for work, and the tour operator was very passionate and gave us lots of good info. Recommended!
Cottonwood Wine Tours of San Antonio was a terrific experience! Our tour guide Diana used our hourlong travel time to good use by giving us tips and tricks to maximize our enjoyment and education as new wine connoisseurs. We discovered several wines we loved and left with a pride in Texas-made wines. Highly recommend Cottonwood Wine Tours!
Rated nationally among the top 10 wine tour companies—and now I know why! We took the Aficionado Wine Tour yesterday, and it was absolutely fantastic. Diana picked us up right on time from our hotel, and the experience started the moment we got in the van. During the drive out toward Fredericksburg (about an hour from San Antonio), Diana shared proper tasting techniques—from how to hold the glass based on the wine type to the importance of letting wines breathe. This was truly one of the most enjoyable tours I’ve ever taken. The combination of knowledgeable guidance, excellent wines, and engaging historical and cultural insights made for an unforgettable experience. Don’t miss this one!
We booked the Hill Country Aficionado tour with Cottonwood Wine Tours and it was phenomenal! The three winery stops were the perfect amount. we had plenty of time to enjoy each location without feeling rushed. Diane, our tour guide, was fantastic. She knew so much about the area and the wineries, and even gave us great lunch recommendations during our two-hour Fredericksburg stop (which turned out to be spot on!). You can truly tell that this family loves what they do. their passion and care come through in every detail. The wineries they partner with clearly respect and value them, which made the whole experience feel even more special. If you’re looking for a relaxed, well-curated Hill Country wine experience, this is it!
“My family had a blast on this tour and we experienced some fantastic wineries that we would not have found otherwise. Diana is one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had. At every winery we were made to feel like VIPs, receiving fabulous service and information – really getting a feel for each wineries’ personality, brand, and values. This tour is totally worthy.
The good thing about going on a Thursday is, we had our own private wine tour. First winery was very old and rustic, not really our speed but most of the wines were good. The second place was beautiful, very modern which is what we prefer. Then we stopped in Fredericksburg for lunch. In my opinion is was way too hot to be walking around the town. Plus the tour drops you off away from the center of town so you need to walk a block or so to get to the restaurants and shopping. The last winery was interesting very modern but they have a rhino on site. Diana our driver/tour guide was great. When booking the itinerary states you receive cheese, crackers & water, but you actually get a snack sleeve of Ritz, a chocolate bar (which was great pairing with our red wine tastings) and water. Overall this was a great day with my husband but if I’m booking a wine tour I really don’t want to be walking around in the heat for 2 hours, again just my opinion.
I had the most wonderful wine tour with Matthew, who was very knowledgeable about the wine-making process and Texas Hill Country. He brought me to 3 wineries (Sister Creek, Hilmy & Bingham), where I tasted almost 20 different wines. Matthew was attentive to details - he had a cooler in his van to store the guest's purchased bottles of wine and protect them from the hot weather, and would adjust the sequence for Fredericksburg (where lunch is) based the guest's breakfast situation. The tour itinerary also seems well thought through and balanced in its curation (e.g. 2 hrs in Fredericksburg was just nice for lunch and light shopping). I would highly recommend Cottonwood Wine Tours.
Matt planned an awesome day for us, we visited 3 wineries and had some time to explore Fredericksburg for some shopping and lunch. Highly recommend
We had a wonderful time despite the chilly weather. Loved the three wineries we went to, including the Texas Wine Collective, which also offered cider options. All three had different vibes/styles and knowledgeable operators. Our driver/guide was wonderful and the wines were all very good. Highly recommend.
