Itinerary
The Golden Roof, the former magnificent dungeon of Emperor Maximilian, is one of Innsbruck's landmarks with its 2,657 fire-gilded shingles.
The Hofkirche houses the most monumental (empty) imperial tomb in Europe. A bronze funeral procession consisting of 28 larger-than-life statues surrounds the grave monument. They gave the court church the popular name "Schwarzmanderkirche".
The current appearance of the Imperial Hofburg in the Baroque and Rococo style goes back to Empress Maria Theresia.
The interior of the baroque cathedral of St. Jakob contains the famous miraculous image "Mariahilf" by Lucas Cranach the Elder.
The Inn Bridge connects the old town with St. Nikolaus-Mariahilf, one of Innsbruck's oldest parts of the city. Here we linger for a moment and enjoy the view of the colorful house facades against the background of the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Nordkette.
The modern and futuristic Hungerburgbahn - designed by the star architect Zaha Hadid - transports guests from the city center to the Hungerburg in just a few minutes.
We discover Innsbruck's old town with its many sights.
Maria-Theresien-Strasse, named after Empress Maria Theresia, is Innsbruck's boulevard with its magnificent buildings. It is characterized by the many baroque and rococo palaces, the Anna Column and the Triumphal Arch.
We stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, past colorful historic town houses to Innsbruck's landmark, the Golden Roof, the former magnificent dungeon of Emperor Maximilian.

Luc gave us a wonderful experience in Innsbruck during our visit. We booked a tour for 8 of us. He showed us a lot of culture of Austria. The culinary part was a small part of the tour, but enjoyable because the food was definitely part of the culture. Luc was very personable and a lot of fun to tour with. He really knows his city!
