The **San Miniato al Monte** is one of the most beautiful and historic churches in **Florence**, located on a hill above **Piazzale Michelangelo** and offering spectacular panoramic views of the city. Built in the 11th century, the church is a masterpiece of **Romanesque architecture** in Tuscany. Its elegant façade is decorated with geometric patterns in white and green marble and features a beautiful 13th-century mosaic depicting Christ between the Virgin Mary and **Saint Minias**, to whom the church is dedicated. Inside, the church has a simple yet harmonious structure with marble floors, columns, and a raised presbytery above a crypt. Next to the church stands a Benedictine monastery, and the peaceful setting combined with the breathtaking view makes **San Miniato al Monte** one of the most special places to visit in Florence.
The **Fontana delle Rampe del Poggi** is one of the most picturesque and monumental features of the **Rampe del Poggi**, located at the foot of the hill that leads to the famous **Piazzale Michelangelo**. It was designed in the second half of the 19th century by the architect and urban planner **Giuseppe Poggi**, who created the major urban redevelopment plan for Florence when the city became the capital of the Kingdom of Italy between 1865 and 1871. The Rampe were conceived as a monumental and scenic ascent connecting the Arno River to the new panoramic square on the hill. The fountain represents the decorative centerpiece of the complex. It features a large central basin surrounded by artificial grottoes, rock formations, and water features that evoke the atmosphere of Renaissance gardens. The composition is enriched by sculptural elements, including three bronze female figures representing water nymphs or aquatic deities.

If walking tours are not for you or you’re just looking for a way to see the whole city in a couple of hours this is how to do it. We did this tour on our first morning in Florence and it was a great way to have an overview of the city to start off with. Our driver took us to all the city hilights talking along the way with some stops with recorded commentary. The historic centre of Florence is not built for cars so the golf buggy is a great way to get around although the cobbled streets were very bumpy at times. We saw places we wouldn’t otherwise have seen including a wonderful view across the entire city for an high up vantage point. Our driver was knowledgeable and friendly and happy to answer all our questions. I recommend this tour as a great introduction to Florence. Spend the hour and a half doing this tour at the start of your visit, it gives you an overview of all the key sights and also takes you to places you otherwise wouldn’t see.

It was amazing and so worth it. We got a feeling of the city of Florence and the history in 1 and half hour. Our guide Hammed was very knowledgeable and was able to share many stories about Florence and their citizens. This tour offers by far the best value for money.In an hour and a half you see most of the city. and good audio commentary. there are a few stocks to stretch your legs and have a drink. if you cant walk long distances or are elderly do this tour if you are not in Florence for long. In hot weather it is a must as the streets of Florence are bedlam in season. Tip your driver if you enjoyed it. Highly recommended. Paul from NZ
