Delicious Florence: Evening Food Tour with Wine Tasting & Florentine Steak

Itinerary

10 min

Begin your foodie adventure in Piazza della Signoria, one of the best piazzas in Florence. Widely known as an outdoor art gallery, Piazza della Signoria is home to many sculptures and art vendors. Here, you will be able to spot Palazzo Vecchio, a beautiful palace dating back to the time of the Medici family. You can also spot a copy of Michelangelo’s David here. Your guide will introduce you to the Florence foodie scene, and off you go.

20 min

Start your Tuscan Food Venture in the right way, following ancient Renaissance tradition we start the night with some liquid courage and a quick snack at Florence’s famous ‘’wine window’, known as Buchetta del vino. Originally created to avoid taxes on taverns by selling directly to the public, this ancient hack was frequented by masters like Michelangelo himself!

60 min

Next, we’ll head to Via dei Neri, a Florentine street known specifically for its food. The street is lined with dozens of panino shops, all with freshly cured meats and delicious cheeses. During lunchtime, this street is filled with hungry travelers and Florentines waiting for a good meal. We’ll stop at a local shop for aperitivo, meaning a quick bite before dinner time. Taste local samples of meats and cheeses, wash it all down with some delicious vino while learning from our guide why meats and cheeses tend to be more ‘’spezziato’’ in Florence than in the rest of Italy. You'll also have the chance to dig your teeth into tomato bruschetta, classic thick tomato soup known as pappa al pomodoro, and two different paccheri pasta dishes one with yellow tomato sauce and the other with classic tomato sauce. Then indulge in a tasting selection of Orange mustard, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil.

10 min

We’ll continue toward the Arno River and see Florence’s most famous and colorful bridge. Ponte Vecchio - centuries ago used to be the hot spot for fishmongers, butchers and the like to barter and sell their goods. Now, you’ll find the bridge lined mainly with jewelers. Cross over the bridge to access to Oltrarno area, a neighborhood that comes to life at night and is mostly populated with locals rather than tourists.

45 min

And now, the main event! Settle in for a hearty dinner that will crown your Florence food tour experience. In a cozy trattoria, savor a mouthwatering Florentine steak—juicy, tender, and perfectly thick-cut. Served rare to preserve its rich flavor, it’s an authentic taste of Tuscany you won’t want to miss! Of course, it's perfectly paired with golden roasted potatoes and a glass of delicious local wine to complete the feast.

20 min

Finally, we’ll wrap up our Tuscan Food Venture with a sweet treat! Follow your foodie guide through charming, winding streets to an authentic artisan gelateria. With its lighter, lower-fat recipe, you can savor a scoop (or two!) without the guilt.

5 min

Your quest for the day ends in Piazza Santo Spirito. As the tour wraps up, your guide will share even more insider tips to make the rest of your culinary adventure in Florence truly unforgettable!

Ask for Fabi

This was a super fun late afternoon/evening tour. Our tour guide Fabi was full of life and told us about the city and herself. 8 people shared 3 Florentine steaks, so don't think you have to eat a whole one!

Fabulous experience with humor, knowledge and value

Marco was fantastic and made the entire experience top tier! He was the perfect mix of humor and information and we loved how he included our kids in the experience. The portion sizes were perfect - we left feeling full, but not overstuffed. I would recommend this tour to anyone as the perfect way to start their vacation in Florence.

Best walking food and wine tour in Florence

Our family had a wonderful evening with our very knowledgeable and passionate tour guide Scirin. The wine window experience at Pietrabianca was a lot of fun. The charcuterie and pasta appetizers at Budellino were very tasty. The Florentine Steak and roasted potatoes from Trattoria mamma Gina was so delicious and paired well with the Tuscan Red wine. Scirin took us to La Sorbettiera and recommended the best Florentine flavors and educated us on good gelato. She was also very good with our 6 and 8 year old children. I would recommend this experience for anyone vacationing in Florence.

Great intro to Florence! Do this on day 1!!

We had a wonderful evening food tour with Sherine on the first night of our 3-day stay in Florence. She was friendly and knowledgeable and gave in depth context to what we were eating and drinking. This food tour was an excellent introduction to Florence. Highly recommend doing this on your first day there. Not only did it help us “check off” some key Florence experiences from our list (wine window!), but we used information we learned from Sherine to guide our choices for the rest of our trip! If you don’t drink wine, this may not be a great value for you. I believe teens can drink wine if they are with their parents. The Florentine Steak dinner is AMAZING. It was the best steak we had during this trip. Thank you Sherine!

Operator response

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're so happy Sherine helped make your first evening in Florence such a memorable introduction to the city. Combining delicious food, local wines, and fascinating history is one of our favorite ways to experience Florence. Thank you for recommending the tour, and we hope to see you again soon!
