We did the rhino safari in Livingstone, Zambia today and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish, including the punctual pick-up at the border, which made the whole trip very smooth and stress-free. Our guide, Caesar, was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about both the wildlife and the surrounding nature. During the safari, we saw a great variety of animals—crocodiles, zebras, giraffes, different baboons, marabou storks, and warthogs. The highlight was definitely the rhinos at the end. We even got to see them up close during a short walking safari, which made the experience truly special and unforgettable. A perfectly organized trip with an amazing guide—we really enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend it!

We received different meeting information via Trip Advisor than was given to the tour provider. We were waiting on the Zimbabwe side after crossing through Zim immigration, which is what our directions told us to do (and what many other tour companies do!). The truck and guide were waiting on the Zambia side after Zambian immigration. These two are separated by a long bridge and a very long line of semi trucks. We thankfully found a couple tour guides willing to make some phone calls for us to find our tour company. That initial hour of confusion could have been avoided if the same meeting point information had been given to both of us. The national park with the rhinos is small with just a few different types of game. We were there to see the rhinos, and wish there was a way to just go directly to them. The guide was good, and the driver did his best, but the truck was making a strange noise that required us to stop twice for them to do something to the tires, and the truck didn’t start after our snack break (very basic chips and sodas compared to other game drives). They did get it started. All of these are part of the “African experience”, but surprised us since we paid a lot for the tour and were located right outside a city, rather than located “in the bush” where vehicles would have harder use. All that was worth it to see the rhinos! They are magnificent. The guide called the guards and was able to drive right to them, and then we walked closer to the rhinos. There were lots of people there the same day as us, so we got about 20 min watching them. Driving from the park back to the border in the safari truck was mildly uncomfortable but the driver went slowly so the wind wasn’t too much. The guide was great at staying with us through the border, and they did drive us back over the bridge to the Zim side, so that was good! I’d definitely recommend seeing the rhinos, and hope Trip Advisor and this tour provider can get their information straight about where to meet. We live in East Africa and weren’t afraid to ask for help (we did not have cell service in Zambia), but others may have had a harder time sorting this out.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and honest review. We truly appreciate it. First and foremost, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience and confusion you experienced at the border. This was unfortunately a case of miscommunication: we received different meeting-point information via TripAdvisor than what was shared with our on-the-ground tour provider. As you correctly explained, our team was waiting on the Zimbabwe side after immigration, while the safari vehicle and guide were positioned on the Zambian side after Zambian immigration. We fully agree that this initial hour of confusion could and should have been avoided, and we are already working with TripAdvisor and our partners to ensure that clear, consistent meeting-point information is provided to all guests going forward. Thank you as well for your understanding and patience during this situation, and for highlighting how helpful fellow guides were in assisting with communication. We recognize that not all travelers would have found this as easy, especially without cell service, and your feedback is extremely valuable to us. Regarding the safari itself, you are absolutely right that Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is a small park with limited game compared to larger reserves. The highlight is indeed the white rhinos, and we’re very pleased to hear that you found the rhino encounter worthwhile and memorable. They truly are magnificent, and we’re glad our guide was able to coordinate with the rangers to take you directly to them and allow you to walk closer for a special experience. We also apologize for the vehicle issues you encountered and for the snack selection not meeting your expectations. While occasional mechanical issues can happen, especially with safari vehicles, we understand your surprise given the proximity to town and the cost of the tour. Your comments have been shared with our operations team so we can improve vehicle checks and overall comfort for future guests. On a positive note, we’re happy to hear that you found the guide professional and supportive, especially with border assistance, and that the return transfer back to the Zimbabwe side was handled smoothly. Thank you again for your recommendation and for your constructive feedback. We genuinely value it, and it helps us improve both our communication and service standards. We hope to welcome you again in the future for another adventure, perhaps with an even smoother start next time.
A wonderful experience and a must see. Looking at the rhinos so close was a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was well organised and excellently executed by Cesar. Would definitely recommend.

An interesting trip, allowing a close view into the life of a natural park. I would like to note the informative side of the journey as guide has shared a lot of details about the flora and fauna of the lication. On the other side it was truly amazing to see the rhinos and other animals in their natural habitat.
