Itinerary
Start your tour at the Entebbe Freedom Tree, where nationalist leaders like Ignatius Kangave Musazi rallied crowds during Uganda’s independence movement, embodying the country’s journey to sovereignty in 1962.
A short walk brings you to the Muzinga Square Park, steeped in Entebbe’s colonial past. An old cannon recalls British rule, while the former governor’s mansion, now the presidential residence, overlooks the park. This serene spot offers a glimpse into the city’s early administrative history.
Discover Uganda’s artisan culture at Pearl Crafts Village, with handcrafted jewellery, textiles, wood carvings, and instruments. Visitors can meet artisans, learn traditional techniques, and watch live demonstrations, making it a rich cultural stop.
Taste the iconic “Rolex,” a rolled chapati with eggs, vegetables, and sometimes meat. The Rolex Guy is famed for inventive variations, a clean atmosphere, and friendly service, offering a snapshot of local street-food culture.
Built in the early 1900s, the Entebbe Post Office was Uganda’s main mail hub connecting Lake Victoria to international routes. Its colonial architecture and continued operation under Posta Uganda make it a living symbol of administrative heritage.
Former Colonial Administration Buildings (Apolo Square) These early 1900s buildings reflect Entebbe’s role as Uganda’s first capital. Brick walls and wide verandas housed key offices, many still in use today, preserving the city’s architectural legacy.
Constructed in 1903, St John’s Church combines British craftsmanship with local materials. Its stone-and-brick structure, stained-glass windows, and hilltop views of Lake Victoria create a peaceful, spiritual and historical landmark.
Kitooro Taxi Park offers insight into the lively matatu transport system and local commuting culture
Experience Entebbe’s vibrant life at Kitooro Market, with fresh produce, crafts, and daily trade.
Founded in 1901, East Africa’s oldest golf course sits along Lake Victoria. Retaining its historic 18-hole layout, it blends colonial heritage with lush tropical scenery.
End at the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, established in 1898. Along Lake Victoria, they showcase indigenous and exotic plants, flowers, and peaceful spots for birdwatching or relaxation, offering a serene conclusion to the tour.

A great tour, we got to see all the highlights of Entebbe and even the rain didn't dampen the enthusiasm of our wonderful guide Pious, who also gave a good insight into life in urban Uganda. A lot of walking involved and the weather wasn't so kind to us, but the heavy rain showers are always followed by bright sunshine in this part of the world, so we soon dried out. The high point was the walk through the botanical gardens, with lots of weird and wonderful trees being pointed out. The rolex at the end were delicious and I've been able to recreate them perfectly in my home kitchen.
It was a very informative 4 hour walk through the market, the botanical gardens, a local park, down a very busy street.
Great all around view of the city and botanical garden. Our guide not only knew about the city, country and its culture but was also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in the botanical garden. He was a wealth of information. And super friendly.
Awesome experience guided by someone with a genuine passion of their role. I got to learn so much about Entebbe’s rich cultural tapestry from Pius. Close to heart was Rolex tasting. Overall, my whole experience was great and I do recommend this tour to anyone interested in immersing themselves in experiencing authentic Ugandan culture . #culturenerd
