  • Vehicles: Are controlled with a motorcycle-style handle, throttle, and hand brakes. The 3-wheeled cars seat two and have a lockable trunk for your things. Their small size makes parking a breeze, and in San Francisco - a major bonus!
  • How fast does the car go? Up to 35-mph. Most roads on tour are residential or in parks, therefore an average speed of 30-mph or less can be expected while driving.
  • Can you cross the Golden Gate Bridge? No, but the tour will navigate you to Fort Point. Here the bridge soars about 200-feet above your head. It is possible to gain pedestrian access to the bridge span from the car park at the bridge vantage point.
  • What is a CDW? Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional form of insurance similar to rental car insurance that limits your liability in case of accident. It is non-refundable. If you opt to purchase the CDW your deposit for rented a GoCar is only USD$300.00 instead of USD$500.00

Little Yellow Blast

The GoCar Tour was super fun and unique. We did the 3 hour option which was a bit much for us. We would have been fine with 2 hours. We saw tons of great sites, more than we could have seen on our own. The ‘cars’ actually operate like a motorcycle as far as steering and accelerating so the breaking is done with hand brakes. There were some spots that were tricky as you can’t reverse without getting out of the car and pushing It backwards. . This activity is not for the timid as you’re on the main streets with normal traffic. The max speed for the GoCars is 30 mph which is the speed normal vehicles can go but the regular vehicles are so much larger. Overall, great experience. Lots of fun.

Great way to see San Francisco

We thoroughly enjoyed the drive around the city. Was nice to have no pressure to meet a schedule, skipping things we weren’t interested in while staying as long as we liked at others. The electric two seater we chose, with side by side seats, was perfect. Car selection can be confusing as they offer quite a few. Make sure you know what you are booking because you’ll start the paperwork all over if you change. The little yellow one is small and noisy, we felt the upgrade was worth it. NOTE, there is an electric two seater with front and back seat, not side by side. Also, be prepared for a little paperwork and a safety video, takes about 30 minutes to be on the road. Would do it again.

Operator response

Thank you for the thoughtful review! 😊 We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the flexibility of exploring San Francisco at your own pace and that the side-by-side electric vehicle was a great fit for your adventure. Thank you as well for sharing helpful tips for future guests regarding vehicle selection and the check-in process. We truly appreciate your recommendation and would love to welcome you back for another GoCar adventure in San Francisco — or at our other locations in Monterey, San Diego, Las Vegas and Washintong! 🚗✨

GO!

We had such a great day! Wasn’t sure what to expect as we’d been on two other types of tours. However, the freedom to choose stops on your tour & routes that really interest you made the experience stand out. We would definitely go again. Our day was rainy but the car was warm & cozy. We found new spots we’d like to explore further. The staff were a pleasure to work with. Definitely plan to go again and again as well as recommend to friends & family!

Operator response

Thank you for the great review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the flexibility of the tour, stayed warm despite the rain, and discovered new places to explore. It’s wonderful to hear our staff made your experience even better. We’d love to have you back again soon! 🚗✨

A fun & easy way to see the city

We hired the GoCar Zero Max & it was fantastic! Very easy to drive and follow the talking Sat Nav. Lots of opportunities to stop to take photos. We had it from 10-1 on an early bird offer. 3 hours wasn’t enough and kept it for an extra hour, even then another hour would’ve been better. We usually do an open top bus tour, we done one in Italy last year and it was awful so wanted a different way to see the city. GoCar was great, went to places that an open top bus doesn’t go, better tourist information given and no hanging about waiting for another bus to come along. I’d really recommend this and will do again in other locations I visit in the future.

Operator response

Thank you for the great review! 🚗✨ We’re so happy you loved the GoCar Zero Max and enjoyed the freedom to explore, stop for photos, and visit places bus tours can’t reach. Time really does fly in San Francisco — we totally get wanting an extra hour! Thanks for the recommendation, and next time you’re back, we’d love for you to try our Electric Car or the popular Over the Bridge Tour with the E-Sport. Hope to see you again soon!

Perfect tour for a mini-vacation!

We didn’t have a lot of time in San Francisco so the early bird 3 hour tour was a great way to get out & see a LOT of sights while having fun! I would do it again if we had more time, so we could make more stops at the shops & restaurants along the way. Tip: if you are tall or overweight I’d recommend the electric car (zeromax). I’m 6’4” and the classic Go Car was cramped but not horrible. And if you are very overweight this car isn’t for you.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We’re so glad the Early Bird 3-hour tour gave you the chance to see so much of San Francisco in a short time—it’s perfect for that. 🚗✨ We really appreciate your tip about comfort too, and we always recommend the Electric Car (ZeroMax) for taller or larger guests since it offers more space and the same fun adventure. We’d love to have you back anytime—maybe next time you can try the Over the Bridge Tour with the E-Sport for even more sights! 🌉

The Best Tour I've Ever Been On

I don't think we stopped laughing/smiling the entire time. We had so much fun. The tour was easy to navigate and the go-carts were so fun. They even had Mariokart costumes for us to use.

Operator response

That’s awesome to hear — sounds like you had a blast! 😄 We love that the MarioKart costumes added to the fun (they're definitely a fan favorite 🎮✨). So glad the tour was easy to follow and kept you smiling the whole time! Next time you're in town, come try a different route or one of our other GoCar options. Can't wait to see you again for more laughs and adventure! 🚗💨💛

Lots of fun, easy to drive, so much to see. Consider bringing gloves and/or a neck gaiter (even in July!)

We’d been planning a San Francisco trip for awhile and I was all over TripAdvisor looking for ideas and reviews. I came across this GoCar thing and thought it looked like a fun way to see the city. Yes!! So glad we did this. We did an early bird (3 hours for the price of 2 hours) tour and I’d really recommend going this route. In hindsight I spent a lot of time mulling over which tour to take…honestly just pick how long you want to be in the car - 3 hours worked well for us; got to see a lot and didn’t feel too rushed - unless there’s a specific site that you feel you HAVE to see from this tour. You can always go to more places, but 3hr was a nice tour around major city landmarks. Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Presidio, Land’s End, Golden Gate Park, Haight Asbury, Lombard Street, Coit Tower. You have a bit of time to get out and take pictures if you want, or time to take optional detours. Ultimately they charge you (I think $1/minute?) overtime if you return the car past 3 hours, so keep track of your time. We felt like the car was very easy to drive. There’s nothing to do with your feet, just hand breaks and a throttle to go forward (turning more to go faster, less to go slower). It doesn’t reverse (or have any other gears); to reverse you’d get out and manually push the car back, as you would a car in neutral. We only did this once to get out of a parking space. ALSO - we are from Central Florida and we had heard San Francisco was cold in July but we were like…ummmm okay sure. YES IT IS. On the day of our tour (9am-noon, foggy but no rain or anything) I wore a long sleeve shirt, zip up sweater, rainjacket, AND we had to buy gloves and a scarf in a gift shop! I would absolutely recommend to bring gloves if you get cold hands, and even a neck gaiter or something. My whole face was red in the cold wind as we rode around. Last of my recommendations - I’d suggest riding two to a car instead of having your own, so that one of you can navigate. The screen is hard to read in the sun and you might have difficulty if you’re doing it on your own. Do this tour! We’ve already recommended it to others.

Operator response

Wow — thank you so much for this incredible and detailed review! 🙌 We're so glad you chose GoCar for your San Francisco adventure, and it sounds like you made the absolute most of your Early Bird Tour (is a fan favorite! 😄). We love that you hit so many iconic spots like Lombard Street, Golden Gate Park, Haight-Ashbury, and more — that's exactly what the GoCar experience is about: exploring at your own pace, with a few laughs along the way (and yes, maybe a chilly breeze or two 🧤🌁). We also appreciate the great advice you included for future travelers 😉 And next time you're in town, we’d love for you to try our all-electric ZeroMax, or the GoBuggy, our 4-seater option, if you're bringing friends or family along! Thanks again for riding with us — we’ll be here whenever you’re ready for another round of GoCar fun! 🚗💛

Early bird red route is a relaxing experience under your own control excellent experience

Amazing way to see San Francisco at a pace you control. Cars are very easy to drive and staff very helpful. Would really recommend doing the early bird tour as the traffic is lighter. Great experience and great value.
