The Island of Lokrum, located right next to old Dubrovnik city centre, is one of Croatia’s most iconic nature reserves. The scenery is spectacular, with clear turquoise water, special forest vegetation and secret coves - Fisherman's /pigeon cave. Many mysteries and stories surround this beautiful gem, including the great legend of the Lokrum curse. Our guide will tell you all about it. We’ll also make several stops to capture picture-perfect moments by the island, including the famous Game of Thrones filming locations.

A true traveller knows that the treasures worth talking home about usually take a bit of work to uncover. This is one of those treasures. Betina Cave beach is completely hidden inside a cave. It can only be reached after swimming or kayaking. But once at the beach, there is plenty to do. There are beautiful reefs in the water, perfect for an afternoon spent snorkeling. Of course, there’s plenty of room on the beach for sunbathing with the perfect view of Lokrum Island and Dubrovnik City Walls. And, if you are one of the brave ones, cliff jumping from Betina Cave is an awesome way to get that adrenaline up and running.

Lazareti in Dubrovnik are a long and narrow building that consists of 10 naves separated by five courtyards, all surrounded by high walls. Completed in 1647, the building would be used as a quarantine station in response to an outbreak of the plague and cholera – a dark past indeed. Located next to the Ploce Gate, Lazareti was built between 1627 until 1647. Its location is significant – situated in front of the main entrance to the Town, from where, at the times, all caravans from the Ottoman territories were arriving in the City as well as right next to the Old Port, the main city harbour. Right outside the city, it was an ideal location for such an institution – merchants, sailors and travelers went through mandatory isolation before being allowed to enter the City (40 days in quarantine).

Wonderful kayak tour

The kayak tour into the sunset was wonderful and the timing was just right. We had sufficient opportunity to enjoy the view and the water and were still able to listen to the interesting stories that the guide told about the places. Our guides Miki and Michael did a super job! All in all, a very successful evening excursion that we will remember fondly. Thank you very much for that.

Perfect evening

Had an absolutely great time on our sunset tour. The guides made sure we had everything we needed including water, storage for valuables and a dry bag for towels. Whilst it was hard work, the sea was still and we were given plenty of opportunity for rest, including one official snorkelling stop. There is also an opportunity to shorten your trip by going along the near side of Lokrum island if you feel that you are tired. I would note that if you are wanting to go out into the town after, plan clothes that allow you to change easily in public. There are no designated areas for changing. Overall, a brilliantly run tour!!!

A Great Way to Spend an Evening in Dubrovnik

Great way to spend an evening in Dubrovnik. The guides were friendly, professional, and shared plenty of interesting historical insights while safely guiding the group throughout the experience. We enjoyed fantastic views of Lokrum Island, the Old Town city walls, and a beautiful sunset from the water. The cave stop was a little overrated, but overall this was a fun and memorable experience that I would recommend.

Consider only in good weather.

The advertised itinerary for this sunset kayak trip is great - and probably in good weather and with able participants it would be brilliant. Unfortunately and without prior warning due to a little wind the trip was hugely shortened. The guides turned up nearly 30 mins late (with the excuse that one of the guides was in a scooter accident - but then Miki and Kiki were the guides as per the other reviews so how did that work...?) and we finished 30 mins early. We paddled a short way to a cave crowded with other kayaks and spent 45 mins waiting to start again - paddling the short way back to see the sunset behind Dubrovnik. Other groups could be seen next to Lokrum island. Given the severely reduced tour I would have expected either to be offered to change to a different date or a sizeable discount. Such a shame.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few important points for future travelers. Our tour description and the "Information Travelers Need to Know" section clearly state that the route and itinerary may be changed or shortened depending on sea and weather conditions for the safety of our guests. We kindly encourage all guests to read this information before booking, as it is provided to avoid misunderstandings. We would also like to clarify that the tour did not start late. Another member of our team welcomed all guests at the meeting point on time, while one of our guides was delayed due to a scooter accident. The group was looked after from the scheduled meeting time, and the tour proceeded as planned. If you had spoken to us before or during the tour and told us you were unhappy with the modified route, we would have gladly offered you the opportunity to join the tour on another day with more suitable conditions. This has never been a problem for us, and we are always happy to find a fair solution for our guests. Regarding the accident, thankfully our guide recovered well and was discharged from the hospital. As we have a team of five guides, we are not sure how you concluded which guide was involved, as different guides lead different tours. We were disappointed that no concerns were raised with us during the experience. Instead, after completing the tour, a full refund was requested. We believe the fairest approach is to discuss any concerns with us at the time so that we have the opportunity to resolve them immediately. Despite the fact that the tour was carried out safely and in accordance with our weather policy, we still offered a partial refund as a gesture of goodwill. Safety will always be our highest priority, and we thank everyone who understands that weather and sea conditions are beyond anyone's control.
