Description

On this 3-hour food and drink tour in the Old City of Dubrovnik, discover authentic flavours and history guided by a licensed local expert. As much a history tour as a food tour, it weaves together centuries of culture and gastronomy through one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities. You'll visit 4 spots along the way: a street food place, two traditional family-run restaurants and a dessert spot owned by a pastry chef who previously worked in a Michelin-starred restaurant. With over 10 tastings and three local wines paired throughout, you'll try recipes still cooked in Dubrovnik homes today, some prepared only on specific days of the year, and dishes rooted in 16th and 19th century tradition from the era of the Dubrovnik Republic. The tour ends with handcrafted desserts and a glass of local liqueur or coffee. Small groups keep things personal and unhurried.

The Large Onofrio's Fountain is a prominent landmark in Dubrovnik, Croatia, also a meeting point for our food tour. Located at the entrance of Dubrovnik's Old Town, near Pile Gate, this large circular fountain is a remarkable example of the city's historical infrastructure and architectural grandeur. Constructed in 1438 by the renowned Italian engineer Onofrio della Cava, the fountain was part of a complex water supply system that brought water from a well-spring located over 7 miles away. Despite suffering damage from an earthquake in 1667 and the Croatian War of Independence in the 1990s, the fountain has been well-restored and continues to serve as a functional public water source, offering cool refreshment to locals and tourists alike.

Five Stars

The food and history tour with Ana was a true highlight of our time in Croatia! She is an absolute wealth of knowledge and brought the history to life in such an engaging way. The local restaurants she selected were all delicious and gave us a real taste of the region. A thoughtful touch was that she emailed us everything we experienced afterward, which was so helpful to have and revisit. We loved every second of this tour and highly recommend it!

Worth it! This needs to be your 1st attraction

Local, authentic and insert here all the other buzzword. There is a bit of walking but not much. Food was great. Guide was great. If you get Ana you will be very lucky - she is very knowledgeable, empathic and authentic. You will also get suggestions for other places. If somebody says - you will get more if you just go around and do it yourselves - then you don't understand what is the value of this tour. We get very personal and detailed explanations and you literally ask about anything. This was one of our trips highlight and I regret that we didn't start with it.

Operator response

Dear Kristiāns, thank you so much for this thoughtful review, it really made my day! I’m so glad this ended up being one of the highlights of your trip and I love that you mentioned wishing you’d started with it, that’s exactly why I try to give context and stories that make the rest of your time in Dubrovnik richer. Thank you for letting me share Dubrovnik with you, and I really hope to welcome you back on another tour someday!
